Re: [2.0.76] Desync Bug with SE

We still support windows 7, so being on 10 is of no consequence. The operating system itself largely doesn’t matter for the game logic to work correctly.

Thanks for your reply. How about hardware support? Is it being compiled for all x86_64 CPUs (including x86-64-v1 and x86-64-v2), or are ...

Re: [2.0.76] Desync Bug with SE

Your operating system (Windows 10) has EOL status (End of Life). No support, no patches, no security fixes.
Not sure if bugs reported on this platform will be considered by Factorio devs?

Re: Game crashed while saving

Could be one-off then, a random bit-flip, so rare that you can't see that in daily use. Non-ECC memory may be culprit here. You cannot prevent or ever fix that, unless you move to ECC memory in the future.

Re: Save might be bugged or corrupted

Since the error happened during I/O operation, I suggest to check Windows Journal, System tab, for I/O errors. Filter for errors, and scroll until you find exact timeframe when it happened.
Also, analyse SMART attributes for your drive, and do SMART Long Test.

Re: Tailslayer

Quick summary of the video is that DRAM needs refresh cycles and if a memory channel is currently being refreshed this causes memory access to be delayed until refresh finishes. Proposed solution in the video is that when you have more than 1 channel of memory then refresh cycles are usually not ...

No, I don't know what this is about. If you were serious you wouldn't post link to YT promotional video to catch likes, but explain it instead, to avoid posts like mine.

Re: Tailslayer

TL;DR: he wrote obscure C++ library to speed up memory operations. Probably vibe coded, no idea as I did not watch the video. Library is here:

https://github.com/LaurieWired/tailslayer

@Tailslayer where are benchmark results you did before and after? What speed gain are we talking about?

Re: Game crashed while saving

Next step will be stress testing CPU and RAM.

Please run Memtest86+ and Prime95. You can find them here:

https://memtest.org/
https://www.mersenne.org/download/

Run each test until PASS, or overnight.

Re: [2.0.76] Crash when exiting game

please run
sudo dmesg -w
in a terminal on a second screen, if possible, throughout the session. See if it catches any graphics driver crash, or similar event.
You can also run
htop
in another terminal (you can split a terminal to have two side by side), to see which process is hogging CPU, and ...

Re: Game Crashing

Your CPU belongs to the Raptor Lake family, which has known issues that can lead to permanent hardware degradation under certain conditions. If you're experiencing frequent crashes, especially during gaming or high-load scenarios, your CPU may already be damaged. This is not an isolated case, it's a ...

Re: [2.0.76][linux] Crash on startup

If the standalone, website version works fine it's not Factorio's fault.
You could open a bug report on Steam, or on your distro forum page, whatever is causing it, it is not Factorio code directly.
