Re: Game crashed while saving
Could be one-off then, a random bit-flip, so rare that you can't see that in daily use. Non-ECC memory may be culprit here. You cannot prevent or ever fix that, unless you move to ECC memory in the future.

Re: Save might be bugged or corrupted
Since the error happened during I/O operation, I suggest to check Windows Journal, System tab, for I/O errors. Filter for errors, and scroll until you find exact timeframe when it happened.
Also, analyse SMART attributes for your drive, and do SMART Long Test.

Re: Tailslayer
TL;DR: he wrote obscure C++ library to speed up memory operations. Probably vibe coded, no idea as I did not watch the video. Library is here:

@Tailslayer where are benchmark results you did before and after? What speed gain are we talking about?

Re: Game crashed while saving
Next step will be stress testing CPU and RAM.
Please run Memtest86+ and Prime95. You can find them here:
https://memtest.org/
https://www.mersenne.org/download/
Run each test until PASS, or overnight.

Re: Game Crashing
Your CPU belongs to the Raptor Lake family, which has known issues that can lead to permanent hardware degradation under certain conditions. If you're experiencing frequent crashes, especially during gaming or high-load scenarios, your CPU may already be damaged. This is not an isolated case, it's a ...

Re: [2.0.76][linux] Crash on startup
If the standalone, website version works fine it's not Factorio's fault.
You could open a bug report on Steam, or on your distro forum page, whatever is causing it, it is not Factorio code directly.

Do a prime95 stress test. See if your CPU can pass that.
