Re: Factorio crashing on Windows 11

Running your modern DDR5 RAM at dedicated speed is not overclocking. You are meant to go to BIOS and change speed from safe defaults to speed it has been designed for, and doing so is covered by warranty. It's done that way to ensure boot on every computer, not because it is overclocking.

No I ...

Re: Factorio crashing on Windows 11

Have you taken out these two sticks of RAM? What speed are the remaining two running at? 6400 MT/s, yes? Have you done Memtest86+ on these two sticks alone at 6400 MT/s?

If it's not hardware, then there could be many more software reasons, like overlays, overclocking tools, various intrusive ...

Re: Factorio crashing on Windows 11

Either way, good result!
You have further instructions in previous posts, try them all in your free time, on Windows software side I recommend monitoring tools, GPU-z can show GPU temps and wattage, and Open Hardware Monitor (or something like that) can show CPU wattage. Also try Furmark+Prime95 at ...

Re: Factorio crashing on Windows 11

For CPU and GPU temps monitoring with power consumption, you need a separate tool. I don't use Windows so can't reliably recommend any favourite.
Very nice result with your 3.5h session.
So what have you changed until now?

Re: Factorio crashing on Windows 11

Oh, indeed, sorry for missing that in your first post.
850W PSU is a borderline minimum for your Sapphire RX 9070 XT, according to specs.
Make sure to do full load test with Furmark and prime95 running simultaneously.

Also, next time you're running Factorio, monitor CPU and GPU temps and wattage.

Re: Factorio crashing on Windows 11

Good to hear all tests returned as a pass.
But still, you mentioned hard hangs and/or reboots while gaming, so that's not good. Could be a GPU still, despite Furmark passing. Or GPU driver - that's a software side, Windows 11 or Radeon driver, or both.
Things to try:
1. Reset all GPU driver settings ...

Re: Factorio crashing on Windows 11

Good to hear at least Windows built-in memory test is a pass, that's something.

Running the memtest in the Windows Run, mdsched.exe. The stress tests you all shared, need to get flash drives accord to their own instructions, so those will have to wait until I get new drives to do it.

Do any of ...

Re: [2.0.76] mod manager installs and activates dependencies of deactivated mod

I have easier solution for you:
keep two separate installs for the game. Add two shortcuts to your desktop, and just launch independently. One for Py one for SA etc. They will never mix or interfere with each other.
Use standalone game installer for this, not Steam.

Yes, this is possible ...

Re: Factorio crashing on Windows 11

A proper commissioning of a new PC requires stress testing of all components to make sure they are working. Have you actually done that, after putting together your PC a couple of months ago? Even if you did, now it seems some component is failing, and you need to determine which one it is.

What I ...

Re: [2.0.76] mod manager installs and activates dependencies of deactivated mod

If you don't want them activated you don't need them updated either.

Maybe the updater could be more intelligent then. When checking for updates the default selection is always "everything". If the default selection was "only currently active mods" that would be much more convenient. People ...

Re: Decrease centrifuge stack size

I don't think this is really necessary. Because unlike ammo or many intermediate material, they are not transported a lot, nor do they need a large buffer.

If I understand this correctly, isn't the "nor do they need a large buffer" part the point of OP's suggestion? I've never needed a buffer ...

Funny projections that you have, as you see I bought it at a point where it was in a crowdfunding state ;). At this point you certainly had a train or a lab named after myself ingame. I'd buy again nowadays without hesitation, still best-in-class and genre-defining. No, in fact, it was best in ...

Brother this game has no drm, the whole schoolyard has been downloading for 10 years at this point.
It has sales from people wanting to buy it + people wanting mod portal comfort, not from forum sheriffs enforcing some arbitrary imaginary border to share.
If you read the ToS, everything is plain ...

I went for diagnosis -faulty pcu and/or mainboard I exchanched for new today.

You just installed a new PSU and motherboard. What steps did you take to confirm this new set is working correctly?

I suggest running Memtest86+ for several hours, or overnight https://memtest.org/
And same with ...

playing multiplayer on same account is already possible “Offline” using the Installer directly from Factorio.com.
