[2.0.32] Can't ctrl + click to replace modules in remote view

Post by miodec »

When using ctrl click in remote view to replace modules, it doesnt work when switching module type.

All examples are ctrl + click with a module in hand:

- swapping with a higher quality works
- swapping with a lower quality doesnt
- swapping with a higher tier works
- swapping with a lower tier doesnt (quality doesnt matter)
- swapping with a different type of module (speed to prod) doesnt

Also, ctrl clicking with a prod module to a recipe that doesnt support prod doesnt produce an error message.

Thanks for the response! Could you explain this restriction a bit further? It seems a bit anti-qol to me. Switching modules in these cases is kind of annoying, because you have to either do it manually, or remove the machine and insert new ones again. Ctrl click working consistently every time would be awesome.

Ctrl click modules into an entity was done as a method to upgrade modules - and that's what it does. If you want to downgrade, or otherwise change, that's what the upgrade planner is for. It will let you configure the exact modules that go into a machine.

Yeah, well, setting up an upgrade planner just to change modules in a couple machines takes longer than just removing them and placing again. Not really sure if theres any downside to just allowing the user to override with whatever is held in hand.

Or maybe adding a ctrl shift click to force replace modules, just like the "angry ghost" building mode.

Anyway, theres my 2 cents. Hopefully you will reconsider this in the future. Love the game.

You can set a single upgrade planner to replace any level and any quality of module with nothing.

It's a hassle to set it up, but you only have to do it once.
