Steps to reproduce:
- launch factorio with bluetooth sound connected
- start music in windows media player
- pause music in windows media player
Expected:
Music pauses, game sound continues
Observed:
Music pauses, game sound disappears
This is somehow related to windows media keys integration, but it's quite annoying. Firefox setting media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled in about:config "fixes" it, but at the obvious price of not being able to control videos with media keys, which isn't an acceptable solution. Also it doesn't apply to windows media player that doesn't have such an option.
Switching output devices in the sound settings menu to non-bt and back brings the sound back.

Re: [2.0.23][win10] Loss of game audio when pausing music/youtube and connected to bluetooth speaker
Update: seems to be a general issue with how windows handles BT audio.
Found a way to solve this by going into Devices and Printers => device => properties => services and disabling "Remote Control". It's not ideal since the buttons on the speaker itself aren't interacting with windows any more, but it does remove the issue of it being paused.
Update update: fiddled with it more while writing this to be more clear and "Remote control" being disabled caused speaker to mute itself permanently when "play/pause" was pressed on it. Turned "Remote control" back on and it's all working fine now?? I don't know. Must be an issue specific to my setup.

This sounds like it's outside of our control. We don't do anything special with medial keys/controls unless you specifically bind those buttons in Control Settings.
Moving this to Technical Help if you want to follow up, but it seems you got it working at the moment.

Yeah, that's fair. I thought at first maybe it was something to do with how Factorio handles sound, but with more research seems like a windows quirk.
Heck, I got the error to repeat in firefox by playing youtube in one tab and pausing a video in another tab.
