[2.1.7] Space platform automatic request for construction not populating

Post by erik.honn@gmail.com »

Just updated to 2.1.7, no mods active (had rate calculator but disabled it as it's not updated.
What did you do?
I was building two new platforms, using both material sent from Nauvis and using material from other platforms nearby with excess stuff.
What happened?
A small amount of the ghosts never made it in the the automatic request items for construction. The vast majority did, but even after everything else is built and the request is empty these ghosts will not generate a new request for materials. For example, on one platform there are two ghost inserters and a few ghost red belts, but the requests are empty. This has happened in about two hours of playtime.
What did you expect to happen instead?
All ghost buildings on the platform should be added to the request for construction list (when it is enabled).
Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
It happened for some items (a small minority, 1-10 out of hundreds) on both platforms I was building. It may have happened on another pre-existing (before I upgraded to 2.1.7) platform I was expanding, but I was also manually requesting things there so I am not sure if I got confused on that one or not.
Things I have tried:
* Toggling the auto request on and off, no change
* Leaving orbit and returning, no change
* Enabling and disabling supply to other platforms, no change
* Removing all circuts connected to the hub, no change
* Disabling all other requests on all other platforms (in case there is a limit), no change
* Removing all such items from my characters inventory in case it's getting confused by that, no change
* Saving and reloading the game, no change
* Deleting some of the needed objects elsewhere on the platform, the ghost get built but when I try to replace the objects I deleted the same thing happens, the new ghost is placed but it's not requested (so it's not dependent on the exact position of the object and doesn't seem to be tied to a specific ghost, it's most like it thinks it has more items than it does).
* Manually requesting the objects, works and they build and everything is fine, so the ghost itself is not broken

Right, forgot about the save. Here it is. I had unfortunately already fixed the exact scenario I had before (with the inserts and belts) by requesting manually, but now I have another small platform with with the same bug. Another ghost that isn't being requested. This time a cargo bay. Named that station with a warning sign and clear name to make it easier to find, even if there are only a few platforms there.

I also got a problem on that station where it did populate requests, but it never sent them despite items being available and silos being available, but I will report that separately if I can reproduce it (it suddenly stopped happening).

When this happened I did notice a potential trigger, but I need to try to reproduce to be sure it wasn't just coincidence. The platform was set to export to other platforms, and I was moving the cargo bays. So I had a ghost cargo bay, removed an existing cargo bay thinking it would build it in the new spot, but instead it got shot off to another platform. That's when the ghost got "stuck", like it thought it already fulfilled that request.

Don't remember if the same happened before, but it is possible because the platforms I got it on were also sending items to other platforms, so perhaps something is happening when an item gets snagged by another platform right as it is about to use it on this platform.

Didn't manage to reproduce it like that. I did see that at one point it started the building animation, launched the items to another platform, and cancelled the building animation. But that still didn't cause the bug. So it might have been a fluke that it happened right as I did that before.

I've a similar problem with space logistics and missing construction materials, but I'm not sure if it's what you're reporting here or slightly different.

In my symptoms, a request gets generated, but it's never actioned. Neither space platforms nor the planetary surface will fulfill it, it just sits there red, even whilst other logistics happen around it.

Does this match what you're seeing, or should I make a seperate post?

Not the same, but I had that as well. For me that was somehow caused by another platform that was set to provide to platforms, but which for some reason didn't send anything (might have been requesting some items as well, unsure if that was what was blocking things). I toggled the provide option off on that platform and the other platforms started getting their requests fulfilled again. I'm guessing it had signaled that "I am fulfilling this request", but then when it got stuck that prevented anyone else from doing it.

But I fixed it without first double checking things and getting a save, and couldn't get it to happen again, so could report it :(

I was able to repeat some form of this issue,

1) Paste a blueprint of a new ship with Tier 3 Assemblers on it.
2) Use the upgrade planner to downgrade the Assemblers to Tier 2.

The new assemblers do not appear on the auto-request list.

Hello, did you use an upgrade planner on that platform (134174)? If not, please let us know when the issue (ghosts not being requested) happens again. Having some reproduction steps would be nice.

Hi. I am like 99% sure I didn't use an upgrade planner. I don't think I have used update planners on any of them, unless I accidentally prepared something with the wrong belts.

I'll keep an eye out if it happens again and try to get steps, but I've build a lot more platforms now and it hasn't happened again so it might have been fixed by some patch after this.

I've got the same issue as Erik in version 2.1.12. I've not experienced Ctri's separate bug.
Mods used:
flib 0.17.2
FluidWagonColorMask 2.1.0
RateCalculator 3.4.1
productivity-technology-limit 0.0.2 (I went into this mod's zip and changed the info.json to make it work with 2.1)

Attempted troubleshooting:
Disabling all 4 of these mods and reloading the save fixes the issue.
Disabling only flib and RateCalculator, leaving FluidWagonColorMask and productivity-technology-limit enabled, and reloading the save fixes the issue.
Disabling only FluidWagonColorMask and productivity-technology-limit leaving flib and RateCalculator, enabled, and reloading the save fixes the issue.
Leaving only flib enabled and reloading the save fixes the issue.
Leaving all player-made mods enabled, disabling the quality mod only, and reloading the save fixes the issue.
Leaving all player-made mods enabled, disabling the quality mod only, reloading the save, saving as a new file, re-enabling quality, and loading the new save fixes the issue.

Whatever the problem is, it seems that the verification checks after changing the mods fixes it.

Disabling all mods, restarting the game, enabling all mods, restarting the game, and loading the save does nothing.
Restarting and reloading the game with the same 4 mods enabled does nothing.
Deleting the ghosts and then undoing the deletion does nothing.
Toggling manual logistics requests/automatic construction/provide to platforms does nothing
Downgrading the blue belts to reds immediately requests red belts. Upgrading them back to blue belts returns to the bugged state of no requests.
Setting my logistics requests to have a maximum of 0 blue belts/undergrounds and then changing it back did nothing.

Reproduction steps:
Design belt-weaving Prometheum asteroid storage loop on space platform "System Explorer Mk 2".
Cut/copy/paste belts a ton for a couple hours (no blueprints, just cut/copy/paste).
Stamp down 14 copies of my storage loop.
Observe >20k blue and green underground belts and >1k blue belts automatically requested for construction.
Add provider chests on Vulcanus to export blue belts and undergrounds.
Add logistics requests to space platform "Vulcanus Shuttle Mk 2" for blue belts and undergrounds.
Observe belts are arriving (platform-platform) and building normally.
Add radars to read the belt contents (hold all) from the storage loops (which are still largely ghosts). Control+C -> Shift to copy the radar, belt, undergrounds, and foundation. Remove everything but the radar and one belt entity in the blueprint editor window. Rotate/flip and paste as needed.
The last couple hundred blue belts and about a thousand or so underground belts did not get requested automatically (all from the last 2x copies I pasted).

The normal logistic request still successfully requested them when toggled on.

I don't think this can be the answer. I don't use any kind of blue belts anywhere else. I skipped straight from red to green. I didn't even have the exporting of blue belts enabled to begin with, so there's nothing requesting blue belts somewhere that I've forgotten about. There is nothing that could have requested my missing blue belts/undergrounds. My Prometheum ship does have "provide materials to other platforms" enabled.

I used an upgrade planner a couple hours ago to turn a few green belt designs into blue belts. Then I copy/pasted the ghosts dozens of times as I worked on my design and tested it. I didn't have any actual blue belts on hand while doing all this, so it was purely ghosts for the blue belts and actual green belts for a very long time. Then I copy/pasted the final design 14x all at once. The ghosts that are not being requests are all from the very last 2x copies I pasted.
