[Genhis][2.1.8] Rocket launches can hang indefinitely

Post by DrMobius0 »

What did you do?

I set a ship to ferry resources between Nauvis and Vulcanus. I am attempting to set up an in space buffer to cut down on the amount of rockets used at one time. This has proven difficult, as requesting ships are unable to pull from provider platforms below the provider's own request, which has resulted in some circuit and global radar mayhem that cancels the provider platform's requests when another ship attempts to request from it.

I also managed to break rocket launches by swapping their "Import from" while requests were on the way.

What happened?

I have a launchpad sitting with items my ship shouldn't be requesting holding the ship from continuing on its route. Note that on the ship in question, the request for red belts, red undergrounds, passive providers, substations, roboports, and miners are all filled, but the requests neither cancel or complete. This seems to happen every time the ship returns to Nauvis.

What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!

There may be multiple issues here, I will list the problems as I encountered them.

1. My expectation is that requester ships can pull from provider ships before pulling from planet-side rockets, because pulling from provider ships is considerably faster.
2. Requester ships should be able to pull items from provider, even if that pushes the provider below its own request. There does not otherwise appear to be a way to tell a provider to request rockets to hold resources until a ship comes to take them that doesn't involve circuits
3. Requests that are canceled or have their import from swapped should either complete their launch or abort, with all items delivered to the rocket returned to the logistics network.

Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?

On my game, I'm hitting it consistently. The ship that's handling the transport of goods hangs every time it enters Nauvis orbit, and I can usually find rockets filled with stuff that just never launch.

Something I'm noting is that for some of these requests, the "available on other platforms" + "on the way" equals the request from the staging platform, even though the rocket is pointed at the other ship.

Thanks for the report. This is a variation of 134256, just your platform schedule is fulfilled and the platform does not accept new deliveries (which would call the "cancel request" logic). It's fixed for 2.1.9.
