Simple legendary fish production

Simple legendary fish production

A fish washing facility for legendary fish, completely made out of normal items. Suited to get the achievement or for crafting a legendary spidertron.

Requirements:
  • bioflux supply from Gleba. You need ~28 bioflux per minute.
  • captivity research for captive bite spawners (nutrients directly from bioflux isn't feasible, unless you're able to provide a full blue belt from Gleba for an hour or two)
  • T3 speed, productivity and quality modules. You can use T2 modules instead, but this will significantly slow down the whole process.
  • If you have quality quality modules, don't hesitate and equip the recycler with them.
How to integrate into your base:
  • Connect some water supply to where the infinite pipe is,
  • Replace buffer chest + infinity chest with whatever trash recycling you have in your base (if already established, just remove both and the combinator at the top),
  • Remove the infinity chest + active provider chest and provide bioflux in your logistic network, usually it's available from the cargo landing pad.
  • In case you already established nutrient supply for biochamber fuel in your logistic network, remove the nutrient signal from the constant combinator next to the roboport or set it to 0. This signal is for making sure there are always at least 100 nutrients available.
How to initiate production:
  • Make at least 2 normal fish available in the logistic network or manually put 2 normal fish into the fish breeding biochamber on the left.
  • Provide ~10 nutrients in the logistic network to startup nutrient production
If you're afraid biter eggs will spoil and hatch to biters somewhere in your factory, add a biter egg filter to one of the storage chests in laser turret range, so biter eggs will be stored nearby.

An alert will be raised as soon as a legendary fish appears in the appropriate chest.

Will probably take ~1 hour per fish.

Isnt better to just produce higher quality nutrients? (recycle nutrient in quality boosted recycler to spoilage and then create a nutrient back from spoilage).

So...

Once you have 2 green quality fishes, you start to breed fishes with green quality nutrients.
Once you have 2 blue quality fishes, you start to breed fishes with blue quality nutrients.
...

Etc. you got the idea. I was never mass producing legendary fishes. But I did (a lot) of legendary spoilages. I think the similar method can be used here.

You can make quality nutrients from bioflux. You can't make quality nutrients from biter eggs. So you have to convert the nutrients into 2.5x spoilage then into half spoiled quality nutrients. There's a risk part of the assembly line can die if you don't make enough nutrients, but part of the assembly line might be able to survive on them. Even if you want to have a packed chest of spidertrons at legendary it's a bit hard to justify putting that much energy into it.

Compare yourself and choose what's easier to build for you.
In my opinion, legendary quality module 3 is way more laborious to craft than a bunch of captive biter nests.

"Mass production" of fish is neither of them.

It really does not require that much quality modules if you can work with few combinators ensuring each production will be done in defined batch. This one produces legendary spoilage. For nutrient production there will be only just few changes. Coincidently it has perfect ratio too (recycler produces 8 spoilage per second, biolab consumes 8 spoilage per second)

Simple math says my approach needs 80 times less eggs then yours (if I put all together correctly). That seems a difference to me. But as I said I never mass produced fishes before. But I like the idea so I will give it a try and compare.
