Yeah, kinda feels huh. SA was not close to finished on release, they must have known it could never be so without early access support. Expecting to buy a finished product it was a missbuy for me. Feels like some people at Wube are just tired of the game, quit playing and didnt look back, left a small team there to clean up the mess without proper leadership. But yeah it's just speculation, respect for those still working on the game trying to make 2.1 into something great.

Very bittersweet. Good job guys. This game actually changed my life, sparked my interest for programming and game dev, and made me change majors.

What a disingenuous read of whats actually happening. Can't believe the disrespect on display here. Some people just want the entire world and nothing less.

I disagree. They haven't made any significant changes/additions since SA released 1.5 years ago. So essentially this blog post is saying that aside from some bugs, it was basically perfect upon release. Contrast this with the extended development of the base game, which included regular feedback from the community and iteration. I think it's a fair read to say that they lost interest and delivered a minimum viable product. I think their silence all but proves it - they clearly aren't interested in what people think because if they were they would communicate like they did in the past.

Maybe they've got some stuff planned for 2.1 that they haven't revealed yet, like a proper endgame, but it doesn't seem like it from what's been said.

Kovarex said he was playing WoW and thinking about the next project all the way back when SA released, so I don't think the idea that "some people at Wube are tired of the game, quit playing and didn't look back", is disingenuous, but rather a logical interpretation of facts as they appear.

It may be the case that you like SA and personally feel like it's complete. Good for you. But for me and some others (who like the base game and have played many hours of Factorio), SA feels like a massive missed opportunity. There's a ridiculous amount of potential left, and it doesn't make sense that it would be abandoned unless the devs were "tired of the game".

To me it feels like SA needs another year or two of development to flesh things out and re-balance some things. I think Wube know this but don't want to commit to that much time.

Good to know for next time I play it!

My sticking on 1.1 isn't a matter of compatibility at this point, but not having to deal with both the mod's changes and 2.0's changes at the same time. I'm planning a whole vanilla playthrough on that once I finish Nullius on 1.1, then I'll buy Space Age. After that, who knows?

Some people do that for engagement like trolls, when what they say is usually ignored, the claim become more and more grotesque, which is funny when it is done with such repetition, you gotta appreciate the irony when that one troll is sticking around for years on that game he keeps complaining about x)
Check out my latest mod ! It's noisy !

Quite exited into which genre Wube is going to rocket this time! Also thank for all the effort to Posila! It was fun talking to you. I still regret not visiting you all at the office when i had the chance.

To be honest, I also think Space Age is not as polished as the base game. 2.0 is obvious better than 1.1, but Space Age is not the same as 2.0, and there are still some mods for 1.1 that are not compatible with 2.0. I had the same feeling of "unfinishedness" as I saw promethium science and the one lonely technology it unlocked, but I'm not sure if it could ever be finished. At some point you have to stop.

I'm also a bit confused with the silence regarding new features, quality of life etc. At least a bit could have been revealed, right? Or at least say that you will show that next friday?

And yeah, space logistics are still quite on the meh side. So many things are are not as perfect as expected from Factorio. Just try to drop exactly 1 item of a stack, or try to build a new platform from a blueprint without sending items manually - it's not possible without quite some hassle.
There's quite some stuff that works well, especially after some fixes in the first updates, but Space Ages feels less polished then 1.1, and even a bit less loved. Which should be expected, because 1.1 is the quality of life update for 1.0, while 2.0 didn't get such a thing yet. :)
I hope 2.1 creates the same feeling as 1.1 did in comparison to 1.0.

I was kind of expecting some new content for 2.1...

But honestly, I purchased SA on day one, and quite quickly it felt like there was nothing more to add. Beautiful graphics and music, perfect mechanics, perfect progression. This is the game I have enjoyed the most on my life and it's bittersweet see the end of its development.

Before SA, I enjoyed playing overhauls (Space Exploration, Industrial Revolution, Krastorio...). But after SA and how well "connected" every part of the game is... it feels difficult to enjoy anything else. It is sad, but at the same time, its nice to enjoy such a good product.

Congratulations to all the team for all the work done.

Just one last request . With the increasing adoption of ARM machines, is there any plan to release ARM binaries?, at least for Linux, but also Windows might be interesting with the new Spark computers.

It's... shattered. There is no planet to land on because the asteroids you fly through *are* the planet in tons of pieces (shattered).
You do realise guys, the shattered planet would un-shatter due to gravity in matter of days?
Ye, i know its just a game. Just saying.

I guess we are staying with half implemented quality system then. Shame...

Thanks to Posila, this game is playable on low-performance machines; its performance requirements are surprisingly low, a rare feat these days.

morse wrote: Fri May 29, 2026 6:11 pm No new enemies? How about old enemies? :) I'm talking about one particular brain-jellyfish that was teased to us long-long ago. It's the last chance for it to come to the game.
It never existed. The image in the Friday Facts post is as far as it ever got.
I really wish they'd consider adding the brain jelly fish to the game. Fulgora is such an interesting place. I made a few playlists based on Space Age, and Fulgora's included a sort of history, my own head-cannon about the planet. Obviously it had civilization at one point, and now it's all covered in thick oil and electrical storms. Oil comes from plants so perhaps the entire planet was obliterated and the oil is what's left of the life on the planet. Are the electrical storms natural, or did something or someone ionise the atmosphere of the planet? Was it for attack, or perhaps a desperate defense? Or maybe it was a planetary wide electrical distribution system.

I imagine an affluent planet with advanced technology but cosmically insular. Like, never even launched a probe into space kinda insular. They achieved world peace, but then decadence started to rot away at what they'd built. An alien threat, or perhaps a natural one, wiped 'em and everything else on that planet out 'cause they weren't prepared for what was coming.

I think one aspect of this decadence could be affluent Fulgorans forgoing real life in exchange for a virtual existence. They weren't on their phones a lot or wearing headsets. They developed technology to interface computers with their nervous systems, allowing real, and hyper-real, virtual realities. These devices became more and more complex as they were used more, attending to more of the users' needs so they could stay in the hyper-reality longer. In the end, many users became completely disconnected from the real world, living a nearly completely virtual life while their robot host wandered around tending to the users' and machines' needs.

These shells were so robust, many of them survived the cataclysm that Fulgora experienced, but locked in their hyper-real bliss, they never noticed and continue to ignore it, as their bodies slowly decay. Many of them continue to roam the planet, unaware or uncaring that their world was destroyed. For some, it's unclear where their consciousness ends and their virtual self begins; some may already be biologically dead, what's left of them scurrying around the memory of a computer, desperate to remain.

So what's where I see the enemy on Fulgora coming in. A mostly autonomous cyborg roaming the planet, powered by the planet's ion storms. They'd probably have an electrical kind of attack. Tho now that I think about it, I'm not sure how I'd feel about going after an enemy like this. Perhaps they could be more living entities on Fulgora, rather than enemies?

U can find my Fulgora playlist on Apple Music by the name Fulgora First by Damien Alien.
