Congratulations, Wube, and may your summer vacation be great !

----

I didn't want to be a party-pooper, but you pissed me off, Earendel.

It's 2026, we're well into the insanity that is Trump 2
(not to mention the other issues dating back to 25+ years, notably those that the Snowden scandal uncovered),
and not only you're linking exclusively to a bunch of USian platforms,
but even the mailing list you gave is a freaking Google form !!

What is wrong with you ?!?

(Note that the above meme was made more tailored towards social media, but that doesn't necessarily excuse the use of other infocoms from rogue states like Russia, China, USA.)

Of course, maybe you're not an EU citizen, or one from a country that is far from these concerns (if any even remain), or maybe even from the USA themselves, but this is an EU website of an EU company, and we EU citizens are sick and tired of the place taken in our life by these platforms, and the growing threat they represent for liberal democracy.

(And Wube, it would be nice if you distanced yourselves more clearly from these too. Your support of Ukraine was appreciated, where is your rejection of (at least some of) these platforms ?)

AWESOME! End of June!? I thought it would be much longer than that.

The only thing I wish for is planet backgrounds in space, which I would argue fits under both "Quality of life" and "Some small features" -- see at a glance which planet you're at (plus it would just look amazing).

I try to run mod-less/vanilla for achievements, so I have resisted using the Visible Planets in Space mod

I still think it would be neat if the "ruined rail" graphics in the tutorial could be updated so that they match the new train track graphics. And being able to keep playing the fifth tutorial map would be neat - full tech tree and an automatically-expanding map.

No new enemies? How about old enemies? :) I'm talking about one particular brain-jellyfish that was teased to us long-long ago. It's the last chance for it to come to the game.

Very dissapointed to learn that basically no big changes or additions are coming. Still looking forward to the actual patch notes tho.

GL folks at Wube that are leaving or staying.

I was really looking forward for more, bought it over 12 years ago, what a journey
my appetite for Factorio patches never stops growing (especially major patches)

though I understand you probably want to move to other projects and there's so much competition in factorio-like games,
still I do hope one day maybe someone picks it up and decides to release next big patch (or dlc)

It says a lot that Wube is choosing to finish this game, instead of doing what most other private for-profit software companies do: endless releases and endless fees. I agree that the game is finished, and doesn't really need anything else added to it that can't be done by modders.
I've spent many hours playing Factorio. It's a huge part of my life. I'm so impressed what Wube has done, and I'm super excited to see what their next projects are (and I'm very likely to buy whatever they come up with next).

Congrats to everybody who's been a part of Factorio. You should all be very proud of yourselves for creating such an amazing, fun, and well-written game that has provided countless hours to (tens of... hundreds of?) thousands of people over many years, and likely will for a long time to come.

Thank you!

It has been a joy to play this version of the game. There's some areas where I'd like more depth in normal recipe chains, but I feel like that's like complaining about a part of Fortnight when the Unreal engine is there to play with. That's an opportunity for modders to make something very beautiful.

The only real gripe that comes up, is that in the UI on recipe selection there's no way to change quality once a selection has been made.
I feel like if you had a row of radio buttons in the same shape as the existing tabs in the UI, it'd let me switch those quickly qualities on a recipe while building.
This would mean I'd do something like this : set down 12 buildings. Click on an assembler, change a radio button, exit, hit q - set 4 buildings to uncommon.

I'd also like some kind of accurate graph with units of asteroids, because I still have no idea what m is.

The current format is click on an assembler, remember to click on set recipe, remember to click on the recipe I'm using right now, click on quality, exit 2 menus. It's frustrating enough to switch around recipes it gets on the channel. And having a parameterized blueprint for every assembler in the game including the quality ones feels like a non-solution.

I kind of feel like quality is the most necessary game mechanic to have in the world as its implemented. Warts and emotions and all, it's a game that actually lets you play with the tools people are using to solve problems now. If you aren't in a position to solve problems a game like this gives you the insight to understand why decisions are made and find peace with what is in the world.

I hear you, "no new research trees or resource chains" but does this mean no new research at all? I've always thought promethium has been a bit weird and lacking with its single use purpose despite the tech saying "unlocks powerful new technologies" plural. So i hope there will be a minor amount of new content even if Wube sees the game as mostly finished.

But honestly, thank you. Thank you all for your hard work, I wouldn't still be alive if it wasn't for Factorio rescuing me 10+ years ago, you made all the difference in my life and Factorio will always be a part of me. <3 <3 <3
