Pump distance limit
I was wondering if I could change the distance limit when pump is necessary to be added to a pipe line, however I didn't find any such value on the pump prototype, is it not possible to change that, or am I searching in the wrong place?

Re: Pump distance limit
hey Loewchen, ty for your answer. I've created a mod where I've set this value for both normal and underground pipes. The visual feedback/alert in the game is properly triggered (i've set it to 33) when I use a longer pipe. Accidently I connected a refinery with a longer one, and even though the pipe section triggered an alert, the refinery received the oil, which was put in by an oil mine from the exact other end of the pipe.Loewchen wrote: Fri Mar 13, 2026 12:59 am See https://lua-api.factorio.com/latest/typ ... ine_extent.
So my question is, what is exactly the "punishment" of exceeding the limit? Because I was excepting no flow at all, when overbuilding the set limit.

Re: Pump distance limit
If you let the refinery run for a bit, it will shut down eventually as the pipeline has actually stopped transferring oil. The refinery is just running on buffered oil. The pumpjack will continue to run for a long time because it has a large internal buffer, but it will eventually stop as well as it cannot output its oil.Accidently I connected a refinery with a longer one, and even though the pipe section triggered an alert, the refinery received the oil, which was put in by an oil mine from the exact other end of the pipe.
EDIT: To be precise, the pipeline itself actually continues to transfer oil through itself. However, it prevents machines from inputting or outputting fluids to it;
e.g. the refinery won't receive oil from the pipeline, and the pumpjack won't put new oil into the pipeline.
