[2.0.63] Ores Randomly Change On Boot

Post by Itsshockwave »

Im 20+ish hours into this new save, and my stone patch was next to a coal patch on start, just booted it up and now its all coal and filled my stone belt to my rail factory with coal, had a random patch of copper ore spawn in the middle of my science center where there were no ores on start, some miners display they are out of ore even though they are clearly on a patch of ore, or a patch of ore will disappear or move to another part of my base randomly, this is the second save this has happened on, not sure if its a mod messing my stuff up or a bug, i do have screenshots of the random ore spawn and my stone patch changing to coal

Ok I have replicated the bug multiple times, theres a random ore patch in the middle of my science area, i use a bunch of mods, i went into map edit mode through the mod Factorio Admin Command Center to remove the patch since it was not there when I first started my run, Theres a coal patch to the north that was half stone and half coal that is now all coal and I rearranged my miners and took the stone miners from screenshot out, so to replicate i removed a mod randomly and hit confirm and let the game reboot, loaded the save without syncing the mods, patch was there, went and removed the patch again through the mod, saved and quit to desktop, booted the game from my desktop 3x to see if its just on boot and it was still gone, then I added the same mod back to the game, rebooted and the patch was there again, rinse and repeat about 5x and it seems to keep happening when i add or remove a mod it also appears that it happens when mods update as well, since this is the second save ive had this happen on the last was only mod updates, i do not add mods or remove mods from a current save, only restart if i change the mods or one stops working

Here is a video of the bug being replicated twice and showing a reload without changing mods to show it only happens when a mod is changed/updated https://youtu.be/5N0vcTGhPVs

That’s going to be the mod itself telling the engine to do that. You’ll want to report it to the mod author if you think it’s not intended.

It is not the mod, it happens with any mod that is removed not just one specific as shown in the video

Sorry I didn't explain well. *one* of the mods you have installed is causing it. By adding or removing a mod you trigger that mod to regenerate ores on the map. You'll have to find which mod it is - the easiest way is to simply remove 1 mod at a time until it stops happening then see if putting the rest back makes it happen, or if that final 1 removed was the one doing it.
