Land mines seem one of the more obvious solutions to Gleba, however due to how stompers work they are completely unusable unless you go all in on nothing but land mInes. As soon as the stompers see a turret or similar they start "stomping", instantly killing anything they step on, confusingly killing land mines before they can explode. This makes the enemies effectively immune to mines unless they are far enough away from any other military buildings that the enmies dont start "stomping" at which point you are building a defense made up of nothing but mines.
This is super counterintuitive behaviour and severely limits your options on Gleba, especially if it is the first planet. Giving the mines a immunity to the stompers "stomping" so they can still explode makes a lot more sense.

I would say that they don't even really need "immunity". Instead if they were programmed as: "On death: explode" it would resolve the issue.TritAith wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2025 6:18 pm Land mines seem one of the more obvious solutions to Gleba, however due to how stompers work they are completely unusable unless you go all in on nothing but land mInes. The only issue THAT would cause is a mass explosion any time one explodes with enough force to cause the ones next to it to do the same... but, is that really an issue? Not if placed correctly, right?
Re: Land Mines on Gleba
explode on death is a good idea, yeah
also they could have 100% explosives resistance so there won't a be chain reaction

Re: Land Mines on Gleba
Huh yeah stompers being effectively immune to land mines is really unintuitive and weird

I agree to this. More combat options are good.

Like the idea either way
If they did a chain reaction, it would be OP but maybe funny

But how to "refill" the minefield...? Construction robots don't avoid enemies and could be destroyed in explosions. This is also a disadvantage of explosive missiles... The laser turrets seem to be surgical, at least normally the stompers are absurdly invulnerable. Only railguns can deal with them without beeing damaged.
