[Space Age] Orbit Line Movement
Hi! Currently, you cannot define orbit lines around other objects without messing with starmap imagery and even then, you get orbit lines which can't be expanded easily. What I'd like to request is the ability to draw orbit lines around a specific object instead of the center of the star map. Currently, this works quite well for space age, as all objects in the space age solar system orbit (in universe, not in the code) the sun (which is at the center of the star map) or have no orbit lines (such as the shattered planet). This may have been overlooked due to an assumption by the devs that all space-location and planet prototypes would reference objects of the types introduced in space age (as prototypes) and not:

This request is a subset of that request and implementing this request would not also mean implementing the other request. Sorry!
Plus, this request also addresses the issue that the devs chose not to implement this request in the game.

Then you'll have to elaborate, because I don't see a difference between "allow setting center of orbit to another space location" and "allow setting center of orbit to another space location". Or do you imply that you want distance and orientation to still be in relation to origin (and thus make usage annoying)?BraveCaperCat wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 7:42 pm This request is a subset of that request and implementing this request would not also mean implementing the other request. What issue? Every request exists because it's not in the game.BraveCaperCat wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 7:42 pm Plus, this request also addresses the issue that the devs chose not to implement this request in the game.

Re: [Space Age] Orbit Line Movement
No, I don't. What I do imply is that distance and orientation do have to be relative to the parent_object in the other request, but not for this one. If you ignore that specific factor, then your statement (that this is a duplicate) is correct. What I do not understand is how the search feature didn't find the other request.curiosity wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 3:59 pmOr do you imply that you want distance and orientation to still be in relation to origin (and thus make usage annoying)?BraveCaperCat wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 7:42 pm This request is a subset of that request and implementing this request would not also mean implementing the other request. I guess you're right.curiosity wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 3:59 pmWhat issue? Every request exists because it's not in the game.BraveCaperCat wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 7:42 pm Plus, this request also addresses the issue that the devs chose not to implement this request in the game.

Same thing. Relative to anything but parent will make it annoying to use.BraveCaperCat wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 8:26 pm What I do imply is that distance and orientation do have to be relative to the parent_object in the other request, but not for this one.
