[2.0.28] Water production with steam condensation recipe limited to ~2k/s

Post by Xeinaemm »

As above, the buffer limit is too low to run without stall cycles up to 80% of machine time which causes pump fluctuations but also the recipe base is too high. It's confusing for beginners because there is no way to rely on UI values in this case.

This recipe should work well with chemical plants and produce stable 6k/s of water or in cryogenic plants producing 9k/s based on game mechanics.

I believe that both acid neutralisation and steam condensation recipes should have a lower recipe base for ingredients and results but added productivity modules. If this isn't enough increase buffer limits two, or three times to remove fluctuations and stall cycles. Otherwise, limits need to be set at 150k for the steam to handle cryogenic plants but at this level, I don't know how the game will handle it if at all.

This approach takes into account the benefits of having more modules in a cryogenic plant for players who decide to take this path, but it also won't scale these recipes to horrendous values that the game can't handle or that you can't use at all.

In the refined concrete example below, there should be an option to remove 2 chemical plants and resolve water problems that limit this blueprint.

I don't think the presented blueprint shows the issue clearly enough.
First, the bricks overflow logic didn't work properly, so molten iron was stuck on undisposed stone. Then concrete was bottlenecked on not enough output belts. Now it seems refined concrete is bottlenecked on insufficient iron sticks?

After some changes to the setup (extra inserters, belts, priority splitter overflow), the issue boiled down to a duplicate of 118644 Fluid transfer rates are capped even on directly connected entities as well.

Regarding the idea of allowing production modules in the steam condensation recipe, I'm sure it won't happen, as that would create a very positive loop for infinite water.

You are right. This should be moved from pending to duplicated.

In this case, you are capped by the number of outputs. It should work as an "offshore pump" but for Vulcanus-specific factories. You cannot recycle liquids by the way, especially since these recipes use raw resources where ingredient quality doesn't matter.
