Space Age is the worst game ever
Re: Space Age is too hard
Something I would certainly change is a way to have biter eggs stored or contained in such a way that you stop getting the warning when the odd egg spoils and hits a building. It's so frustrating that I can surround the setup with 100 turrets and it still attacks the building and gives me that little red exclamation mark. I must have tried 50 different setups in an attempt to stop it from giving me that annoying warning. Unless I am somehow missing something. Oh and removing the shooting speed cap on the rail gun turrets so I can actually use them in space would be nice.
Re: Space Age is too hard
A Telsa turret will take care of the odd one that may get stuck somewhere and hatch before it has a chance to do anything unless you set yourself up for a mass hatching.IJD11188 wrote: Sat Dec 07, 2024 7:13 am Something I would certainly change is a way to have biter eggs stored or contained in such a way that you stop getting the warning when the odd egg spoils and hits a building. I think biters eggs should have their spoil time reduced to about 2 minutes which is basically just enough time to get 500 of them out of spawners, into a rocket, delivered to a platform and converted to science.
Re: Space Age is too hard
That would totally eliminate the player choice of loading them on a platform, go fast to SSE and do science there from freshly captured chunks.Khazul wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 12:52 am I think biters eggs should have their spoil time reduced to about 2 minutes which is basically just enough time to get 500 of them out of spawners, into a rocket, delivered to a platform and converted to science.

Tesla turret are prone to friendly fire though so using them inside your base to kill an occasionnal pentapod hatching seem counter productive in the task of avoiding needless alerts.Khazul wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 12:52 am A Telsa turret will take care of the odd one that may get stuck somewhere and hatch before it has a chance to do anything unless you set yourself up for a mass hatching.
Re: Space Age is too hard
Interesting, I have never seen one damage anything other than a target. I have been using them all over the place including my biter egg disposal unit (below) - basically a belt whirlpool type thing surrounded by telsas and given how many are firing at the same time, I would have expected some collateral damage. You mention ok for the one one, this disposal unit is set to deal with unwanted mass hatching of hundreds at the same time. Yes - sometimes it takes some minor damage from biters if it cant kill them all quick enough. It is used as a dumping ground for biters released from spawners, but not sent to a waiting platform because the platform left before they could be loaded. I never keep biter eggs, always stick them in here to be exterminated when they hatch.mmmPI wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 1:11 amTesla turret are prone to friendly fire though so using them inside your base to kill an occasionnal pentapod hatching seem counter productive in the task of avoiding needless alerts.Khazul wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 12:52 am A Telsa turret will take care of the odd one that may get stuck somewhere and hatch before it has a chance to do anything unless you set yourself up for a mass hatching.
Also on my promethium miner there are 8 telsas around all the egg handling as a just in case. Again never any collateral damage.
I guess it could be that I've always got spare parts and repair packs available (in case biters manager to trash stuff) and it auto-repairs before I see it.

Yes - but think of the ships suffering mass hatchings on a 2 minute timerMuche wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 1:10 amThat would totally eliminate the player choice of loading them on a platform, go fast to SSE and do science there from freshly captured chunks.Khazul wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 12:52 am I think biters eggs should have their spoil time reduced to about 2 minutes which is basically just enough time to get 500 of them out of spawners, into a rocket, delivered to a platform and converted to science.
Re: Space Age is too hard
(Tesla turrets' friendly fire was fixed in 2.0.14 (118726).
Eggs could also be burned in a Heating tower, only on ground though.)

Re: Space Age is too hard
That seem terribly inefficient compared to just using heating tower to burn the eggs, this way only a very tiny fraction would hatch, since this whole discussion started on not spawning useless alerts, tesla especially used this way seem quite bad at the task.Khazul wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 2:17 am Yes - sometimes it takes some minor damage from biters if it cant kill them all quick enough. EDIT :
It WAS * easier to see the damage tesla turret can inflict on friendly entity when there is not that much clutter. You would hardly notice if a damage is done by the tesla or by a biter here.

Sure, but burning eggs quietly in a heating tower seems rather boring...mmmPI wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 2:59 amThat seem terribly inefficient compared to just using heating tower to burn the eggs, this way only a very tiny fraction would hatch, since this whole discussion started on not spawning useless alerts, tesla especially used this way seem quite bad at the task.Khazul wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 2:17 am Yes - sometimes it takes some minor damage from biters if it cant kill them all quick enough. Kind of fun watching this thing chew through a mass hatching of 2000 eggs in a few seconds
Re: Space Age is too hard
That is the point though, otherwise you generate needless alerts :Khazul wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 3:06 am Sure, but burning eggs quietly in a heating tower seems rather boring...

Well - I was going to suggest transporting them to Vulcanus and dumping them in lava, but i guess only approved serious means of disposing of them are allowed...mmmPI wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 3:19 amThat is the point though, otherwise you generate needless alerts :Khazul wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 3:06 am Sure, but burning eggs quietly in a heating tower seems rather boring...

Re: Space Age is too hard
Why not dump them into space ? anywhere is good enough no need to go to Vulcanus right ?Khazul wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 3:33 am Well - I was going to suggest transporting them to Vulcanus and dumping them in lava, but i guess only approved serious means of disposing of them are allowed...

No little puff of smoke when you dump them in space...mmmPI wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 3:34 amWhy not dump them into space ? anywhere is good enough no need to go to Vulcanus right ?Khazul wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 3:33 am Well - I was going to suggest transporting them to Vulcanus and dumping them in lava, but i guess only approved serious means of disposing of them are allowed...
Re: Space Age is too hard
It doesn't matter much i think when the point was just to avoid needless alerts, similar to teslas

Re: Space Age is too hard
Ok - I take everything back. I just beat Factorio 2.0 Space Age and now I am even more disappointed. There is absolutely no use for the final science package. I was expecting to unlock some unique technologies with it (like you do in SE). This is the most disappointing ending to a bad game I ever had.
To me Factorio is now a dead game. I wasted too much time with it that I could have spent with SE or just doing something in real life. Congrats to Wube for making them all millionares.
Omg i am so mad. Its really the worst ending. Also:
If you are in Peacful mode you get absolutely no "you won screen" - which made me believe that I am actually able to reach the shattered planet. I WASTED A BILLION HOURS TRYING TO REACH THAT PLANET UNTIL I HAD ENOUGH AND USED GOOGLE TO FIND OUT…" OMG what a bad game.
I cannot believe what this game has done to me. I now have factorio PTSD. What a mess.
You can basically WIN THE GAME with just using robots. No space elevators. no other planets. no moons. no space ships that can land. no acrolinks, etc … it feels like they stopped half way through the development and gave us something that feel half baked. Wtf

Re: Space Age is too hard
So you have spent two months to realize what was said by devs from the very beginning - Space Age is NOT Space Exploration. Definitely not 200 IQ. Interesting how many years will it take you to realize that not every factorio player is SE fan.mrdisaster wrote: Sat Dec 21, 2024 12:10 am like you do in SE...I could have spent with SE...No space elevators. no other planets. no moons. no space ships that can land. no acrolinks, etc … it feels like they stopped half way through the development and gave us something that feel half baked. Re: Space Age is the worst game ever
Space Age is NOT Space Exploration is a statement that is obviously true. LOL Of course its not. But certain gamers have certain expectations and mine have simply not been met. And yes: Some people try to not read whatever the devs write to not get spoiled. This does not mean that I am not allowed to have an oppinon.
Re: Space Age is the worst game ever
Everyone is allowed to have an opinion, some players voiced an opinion on your comment the same way you did leave your opinion about the game. Your comments are the worst comment ever to me because in substance it's "my personnal expecation weren't met" , but also "i ignore everything that was announced about the game to help people have more informed expectations".mrdisaster wrote: Sat Dec 21, 2024 5:55 am Space Age is NOT Space Exploration is a statement that is obviously true. My expectations would be that players use rational argument instead of half-baked generic sentence that are incorrect like :
no other planets ?mrdisaster wrote: Sat Dec 21, 2024 12:10 am You can basically WIN THE GAME with just using robots. no other planets.

Duplicate of existing discussion.eugenekay wrote: Tue Dec 17, 2024 5:59 pm Some people like to complain on the internet. The polite thing to do (much like real life), is to laugh at how silly it is.
Might I suggest a game more suitable to your playstyle, such as Solitaire?

This discussion is even more disappointing than the game lol. I hope you all continue to waste your time with this game.
