Hey guys,
I have a stack filter on a space platform set to throw into space three specific items in its whitelist. When I want to update it and start making changes, they are applied immediately, and the inserter starts throwing items I don't want into space (like turrets, science packs, etc.). For ex, I have two asteroids on its "whitelist", and now I want to switch the filter to "blacklist" turrets. As soon as I click on blacklist, it immediately starts throwing all items into space. I didn't even yet get the chance to select an item for my blacklist.
How do you guys update the filter on inserter?
What I suggest is to be able to update filter on inserter without it applying the changes immediately, but only when I Confirm. The Confirm button is missing. We have a Confirm button when I want to select a specific item in a filter, but not on the primary inserter screen. So, a final Confirm should be really handy.
Until I press the final Confirm, the inserter should behave and use the last active filter.
PS: this is especially an issue on a space platform: it's not possible to place an inserter or even a ghost of an inserter in its intended place on a space platfrom without it immediately start throwing items around. So, at the moment, I first need to place an inserter in some empty placeholder location, set the filter, copy the inserter and then paste it in its intended location. Seems too much overhead.
Maybe it makes sense to place inserters as inactive on a space platform initially and you need to press Confirm to activate them?
PPS: this leads me to another suggestion which I've been missing, is to turn off and on (activate/deactivate) entities. This really would help me in some situations.
Thanks!

Re: Inserter Filter Update Issue
The easiest way is to create an isnerter in an empty space and then set it up correctly. This is then copied over the old one and the old one takes over the settings
For my more complex space platforms, I have them all connected to the Circulet network and I have a switch to deactivate them. I deactivate them when I deploy them and only switch them on again afterwards.

Or just rotate the inserter first so it has nothing to grab. Then when set up correctly, rotate it back.
