Moving the pin list window, or the entity info one
It would be nice to be able to move the pin list window, or the entity info one.
When you have a lot of pins, the info window when hovering an entity may be cropped, and you loose informations (and, as far as I know, you can't get that info otherwise, the consumption of this specific entity for example).
Example below with a 2560x1440 screen, interface at 125% (Automatic). The problem can be solved with a 100% scale interface, but it's harder to read, and 1920x1080 would still have the issue.
Thank you.

New pins making tooltips hard to read
On my display, with interface set to 125% (the automatically suggested setting), even having just 5 pins makes some tooltip information fall off the screen.
Setting interface scaling to 100% makes everything require eye strain to read.
Setting the tooltips to follow the mouse instead of being on the side doesn't help, it's making me motion sick when I'm moving around.
I would really love a setting to be able to place pins/tooltips on the left side of the screen as there is plenty of real estate there. Or at the very least, a granular interface scaling setting, as if I could set it to something like 110%-115%, it might be a good middle ground. Unfortunately, it seems to snap to multiples of 25%.

Re: New pins making tooltips hard to read
This is by no means a complete answer to your problem, but I moved my tooltips to the mouse as well, but set the delay to "never". I use <shift> to bring it up when I want to see it.

I did try that for a while, but I could never get used to itTinyboss wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 12:34 pm This is by no means a complete answer to your problem, but I moved my tooltips to the mouse as well, but set the delay to "never". I use <shift> to bring it up when I want to see it.
Too often I'm thinking about how to solve some problem, I'm standing still and not using the keyboard anyway, and really don't want to be holding down a button the entire time

Re: New pins making tooltips hard to read
+1 to this!
Even just an option to toggle the minimap on/off would help ease the issue (ease, not fix) because the minimap takes up so much space.
On a related note, this is a longtime issue I've had with circuits that have a lot of signals on them (namely logistics systems) - I can't see all the signals without hooking up the signal to an object (that's not a power pole) and hovering over the circuit network number, which displays all the signals, but higher up on the screen so I can see them all.

Bump, this would be incredibly appreciated.
Re: New pins making tooltips hard to read
Same! I also had this problem with logistic network contents, but we at least have the logistics screen for that now where you can also search so it's not a problem there anymore. I feel like this is a consistent problem with tooltips of all kinds, and the simplest solution would be giving a toggle to flip them to the left side of the screen. In a perfect world we'd be able to move and snap elements of the whole UI around the screen like in an MMO to suit the situation, but I know the engine might not be built for that, so at least a single toggle for this element would be fantastic.dragon_gawain wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2024 9:59 pm +1 to this!

Re: Moving the pin list window, or the entity info one
+1 to this. I've had to limit myself to only 2 pins total as information is being pushed off the screen. I can't see energy consumption of certain entities (like asteroid crushers) and oxidizer consumption is gone as well.
I would just love a way to collapse the pins to temporarily show the rest of the tooltip info.
P.S. I'm playing on 100% scaling so this really shouldn't be an issue

[2.0.21] move the markers/tags window from right under the map to the left of the map
Move the markers/tags window from right under the map to the left of the map so that the popup gui is not cut off. The gui with even a few tags makes the popup window get cut off at the bottom so you can't see the energy a machine is consuming etc.
Also add another option to each tag next to "always show" to toggle "auto hide". This will not show the tag until you hover the tags area with your mouse. This way if you have a lot of tags you can choose which you want to always be on the screen and you will not restrict your view by the tags you only want to see if you hover over them.

UI Problems with "Tooltip on the side"
I always like playing with tooltips on the side because it keeps the main view of the screen clear. The addition of pins attached to the map window pushes that tooltip window down and mostly off the screen.
There should be some way to break up the three elements so I can place them separately on the screen.

Re: UI Problems with "Tooltip on the side"
Yes! This is a big problem. The easy UI solution is when the tooltip hits the bottom of the screen don't push it down below the screen and instead make it overlap anything above it like the pins and the map.

Re: [2.0.21] move the markers/tags window from right under the map to the left of the map
This suggestion is related to the hover detail getting cut off when you add tags. If you just move the tags to the left of the map this issue will be much better.
