Hey long time no see ! Funny to hear you ask questions as i remember you provided many answers to me about gravitationnal wave or speed of information and other complicated things that i'm still thankfull to have learned; I guess it's my turn
What you are looking at is my attempt at using an old mod from DaveMcW that got deprecated fast ( same link as Koub that was faster => https://mods.factorio.com/mod/rail-bridge )
For a short period of time, it was abusing an oddity i think from the rail system bounding boxes, but that oddity was corrected because it yielded bugs in the vanilla game where in some rare cases trains would not see block correctly at least that's how i remember it : 73016
It was working with visual glitch : viewtopic.php?p=440084#p440084
Still it was allowing to make junctions when train don't cross the path of other trains, like the T-junction i posted, where the "turn left" is instead 3 "turn right" and a tunnel or a brige if you were to come from South , or East since the junction is signaled for train driving on the "right" track.
Now those possibilities will be unlocked again with the expansion https://factorio.com/blog/post/fff-378 And although no Clover-leaf interchange was shown in this particular 378 FFF in the https://factorio.com/blog/post/fff-380 , the 5th pictures from the last is showing from map view some Clover-leaf interchange !
