[posila][0.16.0][Win] Crash on start after log entry: "Created atlas bitmap 8192x924 [alpha-mask]"
I downloaded Factorio 0.16.0 from Steam, and ran it. It crashed right away with a message about the log files, and a Windows popup about lack of memory.
Then, I restarted it after closing several other applications I was using. It freezed my computer for about 17 seconds, (first time I see any freeze in about 2-3 years) and when the loading was about 80-90% done, it crashed again. Then a Windows popup dialog apeared asking me to save my work and close the following software(s): Factorio
So now, I have the two log files (Current and Previous) and a "dump" file which is also "previous". (I think it might be usefull, I know what these are.)Here are they: Note that the Forum somehow does not allow me to upload files with the ".dmp" extension, so I suffixed it with ".log"

Sorry, from the thread title I assumed that these are the same issues (there's not that big of a difference between Win7 and Win10), however after comparing the log files they might be separate issues after all.Gergely wrote:Oh WHAT?!

Can you see if the issue persists if you reduce your sprite resolution and VRAM usage?

When I finally got it to load, I played arround with some new mechanics and viewed all tutorials. And I lowered some settings regarding graphics. However, that was not enough. And now I'm stuck unable to start the game. I have the same issue, it crashes at startup around 40%, sometimes it will just work and not crash.
I have an 8-core CPU with 16GB DDR4 RAM and an 8GB GPU, I would expect it would be enough.

Then, I copied the content of the zip file to Factorio/bin/x64 (Overwriting the two existing files) Then I started up the game via steam, and the following happened:
1. Steam crashed
2. Avast! Antivirus popped up with a message about factorio.exe being very suspicious.
3. Avast! Antivirus told me that it sent the file to the "Avast labolatory" for whatever reasons, and will provide me with results in 127 minutes.
4. Meanwhile, Factorio started loading
5. When I clicked the small link like button "I trust this file", Factorio quickly crashed.
I repeated the process, and the same thing happened, but steam did not crash. Then, I decided to start it directly from the .exe file, and then a Windows message popped up telling me that it just "defended the computer". Clicking details and "run the file" caused avast to do the same thing it did the first time.
So I suspended Avast. And started Factorio again from steam. This time it fully loaded into the main menu. I started a (custom) scenario to test things, and it works. In the task manager, it shows a little over 1.5 GB of memory consumed by Factorio while in a freshly generated world on high resolution. While loading, it took about 70-75% of my 6GB ram) I guess this works after all.
So... this will be supposedly integrated into the main testing branch?
[Edit: The avast "Labolatory" thing just came back saying that factorio.exe is clear of all viruses]

Temporary fix is to disable texture compression (open the config/config.ini file and remove the semicolon in front of texture-compression=false)
