Are you running any mods? If you hit F5 I think it will show a lot of debug info including the average ms being used by various mods, maybe you have one that is slow and misbehaving.

You are using too much VRAM, you need to go into Options -> Graphics -> Video Memory Usage ; reduce this setting and you should find that this problem goes away.

I had this problem for a long time, and this was what solved it for me. I didn't notice any difference in graphics quality whatsoever, the only thing that changed was loading time increased slightly.

Well spotted that chap! I have a pair of GTX 760s in an SLI setup and Factorio was set to use all video memory. Switching it down to high made the pauses go away. I suspect it was trying to use the memory on both card somehow and getting confused.

This isn't the only issue. It's also from my experience. If you're featuring a faulty mod for example. The game stutters for microseconds every couple of seconds and returns back to normal and it happens all over again. The issue causing this however is not only Vram. It's actually also to do with

http://prntscr.com/akwbxm

The script update time: as displayed here. needs to be a little bit lower then this. Preferably as low as possible. Otherwise these microstutters will start to occur too. So Mods need to start working on efficiency of how they are written aswell. Otherwise microstutters will occur eventually. Some prime example mods to mix together to get this issue.

(Momining 1.5~)
(Natural evolution buildings 0.5-0.7 varies)
(Treefarm-Lite 0.6-0.7)

Combine these all together however. And you have yourself a nice little microstutter getting worse over the entirety of the game.
I will forward this to the game developers. See if they can work out anything in their engine to prevent this somehow.
Or maybe that mod dev's are souly responsible for this and should clean their mod. Lets see what we can do here ;)

Anyway thanks for this issue report. So i know i am not alone!
