[0.12.5] Factorio Dedicated Server Command Options

Post by creodor »

I've tried locating the commandline option for the non-peer to peer connection method for dedicated servers. However, despite mention of this existing in several places I'm totally unable to locate what the commandline trigger actually *is*. the --help trigger does not list it OR a peer to peer option. There is also nothing in ~/factorio/config/config.ini. Has the --help output not been update? What is the actual method for enabling this functionality? Nowhere in any release log or FFF post is the method of activating it mentioned that I've seen.

--help output on 0.12.5:

factorio@procnode1:~/Factorio/Test/factorio/bin/x64$ ./factorio --help

General options:
-h [ --help ] display help
--version show version information
-c [ --config ] PATH config file to use

Running options:
-s [ --map2scenario ] arg map to scenario conversion
-v [ --convert ] SAVE[, SAVE...] convert maps from previous versions to
current version
--apply-update arg immediately apply update package
--create SAVE create a new map
--start-server SAVE start a multiplayer server
--mp-load-game SAVE start factorio and load game for
multiplayer
--mp-connect ADDRESS start factorio and connect to address
--benchmark SAVE load save and run benchmark
--benchmark-ticks N (=1000) number of ticks for benchmarking. Default
is 1000

Server options:
--latency N multiplayer server latency, in ticks
--latency-ms N multiplayer server latency, in milliseconds
--autosave-interval N (=2) server autosave interval, in minutes
--autosave-slots N (=3) server autosave slots

The peer to peer option is not a server setting, it's a client setting.
In 0.12.4 there was a checkbox in the multiplayer dialog box labeled "enable peer-to-peer", but it seems they removed it in 0.12.5.
So in theory some clients could be connected with peer to peer and some without it although on my server I sometimes could only connect one way and not the other.

Seems like the option should be for the server and not the clients.

There is no such option in 0.12.5: The server is always in non-peer to peer mode.

A new option will be added in 0.12.7 to allow you to run the server in peer-to-peer mode. There will also be an option to allow you to disable commands on the server.

Will it be possible to deactivate certain command so that some commands can still be performed by everyone like the colour change command? Also will it be possible to op certain users so that they can perform commands?

Is it on the list of "would-be-nice-but-not-on-the-table-yet" ideas?

It's definitely something I'd like to see, but there are no concrete plans yet.
