I had two ideas for new player equipment: A pair of Binoculars and a Portable mining drill
Note: the possible resource costs are just an idea, don't mind it too much
---Binoculars---
Allows for a further zoom level
- Basically a higher zoom level to see more at once, simple as that.
- Might be implemented as a powersuit module as a personal radar or something.
Possible resource cost:
- 10 iron plates
- 50 plastic
- 25 circuits
---Portable mining drill---
This is a complicated one...
The drill allows the player to mine when he's/she's standing on ores while still allowing him/her to build/move
-Very helpfull if you need quite some extra ores.
- Might be very difficult to code/balance.
- Powersuit module
Possible resource cost:
- 50 advanced circuits
- 5 electric mining drills
- 10 fast conveyer belts
- 100 batteries
- 100 plastic
Sorry for the big comment
I hope that maybe some of these might be implemented, anyway you guys are making/playing a great game and I hope to see more updates coming soon!

Re: Player Equipment
I don't mean to S*** on you post... Sorry
Pair of gloves: look at a recent thread I created in this section called "modular/power tools"
Clipboard: just use a notepad irl
Binoculars: these are a good idea, although I don't know how it could be implemented. Maybe a power suit modul?
Portable construction pod: this is exactly what a personal robo-port is. Shift+click to have your bots place the selected items
Again, sorry for being so blunt

Re: Player Equipment
Yeah we were discussing which sorts of power tools and further tools to bridge the gap between ordinary tools and power tools could be implemented in the game.
Please have a look at this topic: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... =6&t=14886
So I think we could kind of merge this topic into the formerly existing one.
There we can think of all these items and their recipes.
Apart from that the idea with the mining drill is good, but the binoculars don't really make sense, becausse binoculars not only give a longer sight, but they limit the field of view as weell.

Yeah, we should merge these topics, that would be great.Krayt wrote:So I think we could kind of merge this topic into the formerly existing one.

That's why I said it might rather be called a portable species detector or something.Krayt wrote:Apart from that the idea with the mining drill is good, but the binoculars don't really make sense, becausse binoculars not only give a longer sight, but they limit the field of view as well.
Re: Player Equipment
Why should a binocular cost more than a laser turret?
Re: Player Equipment
Probably it makes more sense to see it as a long range detector for alien life forms. That would explain higher costs.Boefjim wrote: [...]
