Re: Friday Facts #50 Growing secretly
hm.. so there is a change that o.10.x won't have other than experimental releases if you don't need to create 0.10.10 (no urgent bug fixes) ?
also, all the multiplayer stuff is nice, but I guess it will still take a year to get something really playable
I was really looking forward to have some tank ...

Re: Friday Facts #27 The roadmap
I'm actually not sure about 'sharp' things, e.g. circuit is green with sharp white lines.. and as I often zoom in and out, it looks horrible when moving on belts and flickers like crazy (white lines appearing and disappearing). Ideally would be to have all pictures with it's mipmaps (.dds), but I ...

Re: Reading Energy Consumption
Info from that panel was confusing for me as well.. only by observing my current situation and reading the statuses I understood how to read it.
The window says Electric network info, so I thought production stands for how much energy is produced (supplied), but it actually is how much is drained ...

[0.9.7] Assembler machine 1 animation twitching
When in windowe mode, resolution 1280x720 it's really noticeable that assembler machine 1 during animation 'moves' in some frames to the right and back by pixel or two
(it doesn't happen for assembler machine 2, only 1)

after releasing game on steam you should be ready for influx of bug reports no matter how stable you think factorio is now.. just because amount of people and all the PC configuration and other software they have

interesting discussion - use determinism - to create multiplayer
so as I understand it, in order to preserve full determinism, everyone in multiplayer session will receive messages about everyone else in the world.. so if 3 players are sharing map, but don't actually see each other, your client with ...

Re: Friday Facts #23 - Year after
would agree with post above about have different shapes for higher tiers.. every tier would be 2x2, but lower tiers would have less and bigger sized machinery (valves, pistons, ...), higher tiers having more complex and smaller parts and also have different silhouette (more techy)

hm.. didn't know you're going for some old steampunky looks (or you named it 'old style'). As you mentioned, some stuff will look out of place now.
I'm wondering here.. if you'll have unique animated graphics (15 or so frames) for every machine and 4 possible rotations.. will GPUs with 1GB still ...

Re: Engine unit
Whole Factorio is about starting small, getting bigger. What about having different tiers when it comes to cars and trains. As well as engines.
tier 1:
compact steam engine - requires lots of iron, gears and steel to build - any fuel to power (wood, coal, solid fuel)
- required to build:
-> steam ...

Re: Pipes 80% underground or longer segments
In other thread I was already proposing walkable pipes that are 2/3 underground.
For me, limitations presented by belts, pipes, etc. in Factorio are what keeps it interesting. If you don't have to think about the consequences of putting down a pipe in that particular place, then the game has lost ...

- as mentioned by other people here, making engines in chemical plant was unexpected and maybe better option would be assembly machine with barreled lubricant
- all the pipes are making it really hard to walk and I'm getting stuck in every bloody pipe, discussion on that here: https://forums ...

or pipes could be slightly put underground, so just 1/3 of it sticks from the ground and thus make it completely walkable through, like with belts

ye.. engines in chemical plant confused me too
also the differences between engines now.. you can create pump only from electric engine (isn't there a better name btw? like electric motor vs combustion engine?)
regarding liquids (oil) - would it possible to manually grab oil from plant and put in ...

Re: Assistance need - getting odd, stuttering lag
having same issue as well..
not sure it has anything to do with graphics
it happened just occasionally in v0.8.8 and when I saved game and reloaded again, stuttering was gone.
now in 0.9, it happens more often and save and re-load doesn't seems to be helping anymore. It's specially noticable when ...
