Re: Friday Facts #444 - 2.1 Experimental release

It would exist. because they made it, not us.

Actually no. Thousands of bug reports and suggestions and feedback and mods that were integrated into the game. This is many hours of unpaid labour. It was a collaboration. And without people buying the game there wouldn't be a company, and less ...

Re: Friday Facts #444 - 2.1 Experimental release

There is none so entitled as the guy who's paid a whole fifty-five bucks for a game.
Once you've forked over that kind of money, you're practically a part-owner of the company, and should be consulted on every decision.

Entitled? Factorio wouldn't exist without the community. Wube wouldn ...

Re: Friday Facts #444 - 2.1 Experimental release

Factorio is neither Sandbox nor Adventure.

Those are words I used to describe the two extremes between which ALL games live, which is open ended freedom and self made goals (sandbox) vs constrained freedom and developer determined goals (adventure).

These two conflict with each other. By ...

Re: Friday Facts #444 - 2.1 Experimental release

My Nauvis Base does not have any defenses, and I am pretty much not getting attacked by Biters on default Settings unless they expand to a closeby area, in which case, yes I am forced to kill the nearby nest, but apart from that it is quite peaceful as long as you keep your pollution and ...

Re: Friday Facts #444 - 2.1 Experimental release

My guess, having seen a few posts here and there along similar lines, is that it's because how Wube has interacted with the community has changed over the years.

This is worth highlighting. The original game had a lot more back and forth and iteration. Major changes happened. The expectation I ...

Re: Friday Facts #444 - 2.1 Experimental release

Can you elaborate, please? I have some questions to the SA expansion too and base game is arguably more dense and well-thought to me, but I wonder what makes you unhappy about it.

I've written stuff elsewhere. This won't be comprehensive, but is an attempt to summarize and give some examples to ...

Re: Friday Facts #444 - 2.1 Experimental release

If there's one big thing I'd like re: communication, its for Wube to explain what the intention for Factorio is, and explain design decisions, and do a post mortem about the design. Because you're asking for feedback, but from what I see you don't care at all about feedback and are just doing what ...

Re: Please, DO NOT remove space casino

Are people seriously saying that this game, which is UNDOUBTEDLY one of the most free and open sandbox games on the market, isn't a sandbox game because they can't do one specific thing?

It's not a binary. Wube have made a series of choices to mandate particular ways of playing which has made ...

Re: Too many last minute changes

but since the focus is shifting toward new projects its not worth to fix a system that needs a ground up revisit, not just a nerved casino or removed lds shuffle, these are just symptoms, not the reason.

If I had to guess, quality is supposed to be a generic system that works seamlessly with ...

Re: Too many last minute changes

In my opinion making a mini-mod of the recycler is almost a hack and surely wasn't a change that the perfectionists at Wube accepted lightly. But it seems they felt it necessary to provide a setting for all players who don't like quality but use it because of some compulsion because it is there ...

Re: Too many last minute changes

Wube held back changes they could have and should have released a long time ago in order to buy goodwill and distract from the fact they they aren't fixing/improving other parts of the game because they don't want to work on Factorio any more.

Re: Friday Facts #442 - Flip, Flow, and Fresh Paint

The fact of the matter is, people will inevitably gravitate towards the path of least resistance, whether that leads to good/interesting gameplay or not.

The difference in WoW is that it effects other people, as it's a multiplayer game.

I hate this elitist attitude. "Sorry guys, if you aren't ...

The relationship between the rulemakers and the ruled

I'm in a straight betwixt two, but I feel like it's a "speak now or forever hold your peace" type situation.

In the world generally we're seeing a disconnect between governments and citizens. There's a feeling that governments are not listening to people and don't understand the problems that ...

This argument isn't valid because if you stick to 2.0 you miss out on everything else in 2.1.

Re: Add difficulty options when starting new game

no idea about asteroid quality mining because I dont have DLC but you can make game harder or easier there.

This post was made in reference to quality modules being disallowed in a recipe in 2.1 because it was said to be too easy, and has nothing to do with the options you showed.

The point is ...

You can decide whether or not you can use quality modules in the asteroid reprocessing recipe already? Where is this option?

Re: Friday Facts #442 - Flip, Flow, and Fresh Paint

While I agree with some of what you've said in principle, we're talking about a late game thing that has already been in the game for a year and a half. And Factorio is a non competitive, mostly single player game, and partially a sandbox.
And? Are those reasons I should not be allowed to enjoy ...
