Re: Friday Facts #369 - To the moon

This cryptocurrency at least incentivises work that is at least useful for other factorio players. Other currencies incentivise "work" which is completely useless.

Re: Friday Facts #367 - Expansion news

If I understand correctly, that's not the case, that the 1.2 base engine (without expansion) is capable of everything the expansion will use. There are 2 versions, one with expansion code and one without. The expansion engine contains everything from base engine. On the other hand 1.2 base engine w...

Re: Friday Facts #315 - New test servers

"Not critical" doesn't mean "no backups". This forum isn't critical, but it should still be backed up. mods.factorio.com isn't critical, but it should still be backed up. Your family photos aren't critical, but they should still be backed up. (This post has been brought to you b...

But server room... Airco, UPS, sealed temperature controlled room, backup system please.
Lol, why would they need that? They aren't hosting anything critical.

Since you mention WoW. Please enable shortcut drag and drop like WoW, to allow reordering the toolbar.

Re: Splitting stacks

+1, although I'm not sure about the actual solution. Use case, filling turrets manually, you can only put in half stacks (100) or 1 by drop key. But most of the time, you want to insert 10 or 20. I would like to see a possibility to configure the ctrl-right click behaviour. Or a different control t...

Re: Moveable toolbar shortcuts

you can use the middle mouse button to set and unset the toolbar items while holding an item in your hand. Thank you, but that doesn't change anything. If I move items like that I still delete the items at the target position instead of reordering it. So I have to make a copy of the item in the tar...

Splitting stacks

While holding items in your cursor you can use shift+scroll to change stack size. Let it work on a logarithmic scale, such that scolling down halves stack size and scrolling up doubles the stack size. The maximum size would be the max stack size (or even better, the amout of items in inventory), min...

Moveable toolbar shortcuts

Currently it is very cumbersone to change the order of items in the toolbar. You have to delete the current items, then search them again from the menu. I think it would be much better if the toolbar would work like in WoW. When you left click on an item it uses the item. If you instead hold the mou...

Re: Friday Facts #311 - New remnants 3

Looking great!

But if the remnants of belts could point in the direction of the original belt, it would be even better.

Also, maybe the remnants could act as ghosts themselves if that is enabled, instead of placing ghosts over them.

Re: Friday Facts #309 - Controversial opinions

@Twinsen @wheybags @TOGoS I know I'm late to the party, but I actually agree with most of your proposals. I understand that some of them are controversial, but honestly people are always against change. Maybe they will like it when they actually try it. If you don't plan to implement them into the b...

Re: Friday Facts #303 - Under 100 bugs (but still not stable)

How do you think a legitimate key would end up on g2a of a game that has never been on sale? The FFF explains that: There are still Steam gifts of Factorio being sold on G2A, these are most likely 'legit', in that they were not purchased using stolen credit cards. The question is, where do these gi...

Re: Friday Facts #303 - Under 100 bugs (but still not stable)

I don't understand how buying from g2a is worse than pirating. As far as I understand it, some keys (from you or steam) are bought with stolen credit cards and then sold on g2a. When the owner of the credit card cancels the transactions, you lose all the money and you have to pay extra fees. But tha...

Re: Friday Facts #297 - New resource icons

I think randomizing the resource icons is a great idea, but to be honest it still looks very repetitive to me. The reason is that one ore item is always represented by 4 ore chunks of almost equal size and then placed at the corners of a square. In the last picture it is most visible for copper and ...

Re: Friday Facts #289 - Character GUI

I like the idea of merging requests and auto-trash, but the way the numbers are in this mockup is a bit confusing in my opinion. The fact that the way each is displayed depends on the state of the other makes it more complicated than necessary, in my opinion. I think it would be better if they each...

Re: [posila] [0.17.1] Flamethrower turret aiming incorrectly

The center of the flame patch is on the edge, and it's AOE expanded to hit the other turrets. From the screenshots you can easily see thats exactly the problem. If the flamethrower is aiming at a point P on the edge of the target area then it can also damage stuff at a maximum distance r outside of...

Re: Friday Facts #283 - Prepare to Launch

Also, I actually expected the lights being still and only flash when silo is opened and the rocket raised. Those are in fact just 'notification lights', not 'light up the silo lights'. As I see them: they flash as an indication of something important happenning. They are warning flashes that the do...

Re: Friday Facts #280 - Visual Feedback is the king

What if copy/paste supported system clipboard ? You could just copy a blueprint from web and paste it into Factorio and vice versa. Only problem may be, that you would fill your clipboard with base64 "nonsence" that you would occaisionally paste into a textfield. Ok, I need this now. I do...

Re: Friday Facts #252 - Sound design & Map editor

I tried to use the map editor a few months ago, found a ton of just little annoyances (try creating a "pool" of nothingness and see what it does to the map) and gave up. It was unintuitive, clunky, and the process of loading in to playtest was a pain for fine-tuning. Glad to see it's gett...

Re: Friday Facts #250 - Dead end conclusion

The blueprint library button will be disabled until bots are researched or until any item is added to the library for the first time. I have highlighted the second part because some people here can't read. It means that for players who already have blueprints in their libray, they have access to bl...
