[0.17.1] Synchronize with modded server join server fails

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

With Speed Modules being the prodominate Beacon choice, this contributes to the "belt vs. bot" rift too. As it's making production machines faster, putting out more items that the belts just can't provide throughput compared to the research upgraded bots. Solution: Limit number of effect ...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

If you make the drain large enough , some options get less interesting to use them on a large scale. For instance bots have no wear when used within so many tiles of their deploying roboport , with growing distances actual wear will increase exponentionally that way you can still use many bots over...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

- As mentioned earlier in this FFF maintance or wear could be introduced for all items. That way creating new possibility's, FI you can use beacons but factory will need to be rebuild much quicker due to increased wear.( via toggle) That just reads to me as "Periodically have robots grab items...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

Also far too many people are so lacking in self-control that they'll opt for things that make the game less fun for others because it ruins their own fun since they can't simply exercise the self-control necessary not ruin their own fun. Which is a really dumb reason to make the game less fun for o...

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

Instead of thinking "How do we nerf bots to make belts better" you need to think "What could we do to make belts better than bots" You can increase the speed of robots. But what if there was a space science research that allowed you to increase the capacity of belts to hold more ...

Re: [0.15] Sea Block Pack 0.1.7

Any idea on the eta for 0.16? I want to start a sea block run, but it seems foolish to start on 0.15 now. I'm dying to play on a 0.16 multiplayer server because of how large of a factory I could play on because I couldn't keep up with the server. Seablock allowed me to with a much larger factory, a...

Re: [0.15] Sea Block Pack 0.1.7

I don't consider destroying them to be the intended use. The mineral sludge recipe for geodes is the only recipe that consumes enough geodes. I believe mineral sludge is the intended answer to the question "What do you do with geodes" But yes I would agree geodes play very little in the gr...

Re: [0.15] Sea Block Pack 0.1.7

I thought we were suggesting the idea of crushing geodes into stone.

Turning geodes into mineral sludge allows you to get more mineral sludge out of your resources you should have enough sulfuric acid floating around from sodium processing that it becomes practically unlimited and is a non issue.

Re: [0.15] Sea Block Pack 0.1.7

I had an excess of crystal slurry and the rest went to making mineral sludge... but yes if you value sulfuric acid more than mineral sludge then you would have no way to deal with geodes. I like the idea of making crushed stone out of geodes personally. Sulfuric acid can be produced with the sulfur ...

[Dominik] [0.16.4] Change log cursor position absolute not relative

In the update list, click a location in the cursor, move the update log. The cursor will not stick to the selected location and will appear to float around. Expected behavior is the cursor appear to stay on the selected location when scrolling the update log

Re: Friday Facts #204 - Another day, another optimisation

A linked list of multiply-inheriting classes? I'd have expected an array of structs. When it comes to performance of a large number of entries ( a few thousand or so ) it's better to use SOA https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/memory-layout-transformations to quote intel Although it may seem ...

Re: Friday Facts #181 - Calm before the storm

These cases have raised some moral question in me about whether it is acceptable to deactivate a review key. If a channel writes in and asks to cover our game, and even 6 months later they haven't shown the game at all, do they deserve to keep their free copy? There is a similar issue being faced i...
