Re: Anyone installed Windows XP from USB?

That actually worked! I got into a boot menu, selected the windows XP installer, said it was going to load 615mb, about 144mb the screen went blank. I wish I had a CRT (I did, two years ago, but it broke) as I suspect it was going to another resolution but I haven't got further. I have a USB optical...

Anyone installed Windows XP from USB?

Hey, so this is off topic but I'm hoping you guys might have experience with this. I've got an old, 2002 era computer I'm building (IDE and SATA connectors) and I've got an IDE and SATA hard drive, it picks up the IDE but not the SATA. Alas, I don't have any IDE optical drive, and it won't pick up t...

Re: Anyone use barrels?

I did think about it, barrels are fun, but IRL for long distances pipelines require less logistics. Just have a pipe, pumps every certain distance, and monitor for pressure drops. But in game? pipelines are still a bit confusing. I do put pumps in them at random, never really got a good feel of &qu...

I did yeah, and I was interested in the push you, pull me boat. This is an area of physics that doesn't make sense to me.

Re: Dyson Sphere Program

It's interesting. It feels like they played a lot of factorio, and streamlined it. 1: You get construction bots right from the start. Infact, the only way you build is via your bots. 2: Belts hold one item at a time. No more belt balancing 3: Simplified fluid physics. Water, oil, hydrogen gas, all o...

A wind powered vehicle that goes faster than the wind

https://youtu.be/jyQwgBAaBag The treadmill prototype I found most interesting. It was going at speed, the wheels turn the propeller, which propels it along and despite the mechical losses it accelerates, going faster than the treadmill. I never quite understoof how a yacht can tack into the wind and...

Re: ARM architecture

would be interesting to see if it can be done, like "running doom on an X". Anyone remember the transmeta CPU's? I was told theyw eren't x86, but emulated x86 so windows and linux could be run on it. A friend had a laptop with a 1ghz chip in, he reckoned it was equivalent to a 500mhz penti...

Re: Anyone use barrels?

I use barrels for light oil to be flown into remote walls for the flamethrowers.

I try to have a factory to make barrels and have the inserter stop when it reaches a certain limit, but I end up with far more barrels then what there should be. Why is that, are the barrels not counted when in flight?

Re: [LONGPOST] Bot only mega base - No belt no train

Nice base, only just found it now. I'm quite happy with my intermediates, but what I'd really like is bot based science production. You just use the assmblers for that?
I'd like to see a beaconed approach.

Re: Rocket Control Unit and Low-Density Structures

Hello 4 year old post, I noticed your blueprint strings are incompatible with version 1. Does anyone have these blueprints and could you please share the new blueprint string please? I very much like the look of the low density structure factory and would like to use it in my game, especially now th...

Miniloader mod

Got this error message, I've been using it just fine, and with the wearhousing mod, I find it makes a quick and easy belt balancer. The mod Miniloader (1.10.2) caused a non-recoverable error. Please report this error to the mod author. Error while running event miniloader::on_player_mined_entity (ID...

Re: automatic pumpjack placement

the mod is a bit of a cheat. I can drag over an area of any size and it'll consolidate the oil patches in one area that's the center point. But.. I don't really mind that.

Autoplace buildings with a left click in blueprint

I have been playing with my cousin who hasn't played since .15. I placed a blueprint down and he was left clicking on the ghost buildings to see if it'd build. I told him he had to select the item, rotate it, then place it. My feature suggestion is, if there is a blueprint, that you can simply left ...

Re: Factorio Player Health on LED strip

I'm seriously considering getting that WS2801 or similar blinkenlights LED strip now and using a r-pi. I know nothing about modding but I've been meaning to get a R-Pi with a DAC for a while now for another project, but this had added to my reasons to get it. What's the output/where is it being read...

Yet another "no path" topic

https://www.sendspace.com/file/sj851j Here's the savegame, I'm running a bunch of mods, but none that affect rails (at least, I don't think I am, I've disabled farl, not using rail over water bridges) I decided I like shortcuts, and found three blueprint books for two/four lane rail networks https:/...
