[0.17.77] Electric Energy Interface consumption broke

Post by Gweneph »

The consumption seems to skyrocket if enabled at all, but if you look at the electric grid it shows 0 consumption. It does not seem to respond to changes in the consumption slider. My power production seems to always be maxed despite (according to the graphs) zero consumption. Problem first appeared in 0.17.73 and is still present as of 0.17.77.

I've attached a save from 0.17.72 that I loaded into 0.17.72, 0.17.73, and 0.17.77 and only the 0.17.72 seemed to work correctly. I've also attached the log files from those three sessions.

The numbers also don't add up and you can see a jump right at the load time (around the 1 minute mark) in the 0.17.77 electric grid plot:

While the 0.17.72 plot looks steady:

I literally was just in 0.17.77 doing reactor design using the EEI, and did not encounter any issues. The plot reflects that your interface had consumed an average of 16.7MW over the past 10 minutes, and produced next to no power.

Unless you can get more specific, NaB.

I am also not clearly seeing an issue provided with the screenshots

Can you be more specific?

In the graph you can see around the 2 minute mark I set the EEI to only consume around 1 MW of power. The consumption and production drop as expected. Then around the 1 minute mark I loaded up the save file in 0.17.77. The production from the steam turbines spiked up to maximum they could produce. At the same time the consumption from the EEI dropped to zero. The only thing that changed was that I loaded the save into a new version. If the new consumption is 0 and production is 58.2 MW where is all that energy going?

Edit:
I just tried out 0.17.78 with an even simpler setup: I'm trying to consume 30kW of a single solar panel's potential of 60kW, but instead the solar panel is producing it's max while according to the chart the EEI isn't consuming anything:
screenshot 2019-11-15 001.png
screenshot 2019-11-15 001.png (2.37 MiB) Viewed 6223 times
When I try the same thing in 0.17.72:

screenshot 2019-11-15 002.png (2.76 MiB) Viewed 6223 times
Now it works like I would expect it to. You can see it's consuming 30kW and the solar panel is generating 30kW.

Can confirm, seems like its specific to the EEI

Thanks for the report. It's now fixed for the next version of 0.17.

Thanks! I had the same issue with the decu mod, and I dragged my feet in trying to whittle the problem down.
I have mods! I guess!

I see the fix in the changelog for 17.79, but I'm afraid it does not seem to be working. I cannot seem to make the EEI consume electricity at all now. (discovered during testing another issue ref 79566)

Another observation, and possibly related - The EEI is unable to charge empty accumulators, but can still supply electricity to normal consumers.

More details to come following further tests...

The context was that it seemed directly related, and intended as supplementary information. A separate bug report is already pending further research into this one (acquiring 17.77).
Understood, and edited.
