Building new Radars - minimap/map view

Post by emp_zealoth »

When you build a new radar, you can see the blue "no fog of war" squares, but only on the minimap
Please, make it visible when placing from map view as well (like one can paste blueprints now) - it's an issue with modpack radars that tend to have higher tiers - the minimap view is simply too small

+1 I currently have a blueprint with a very large grid as a "workaround"

There is a mod, Shortcuts-ick, that has a shortcut that turns on a grid. This grid may be adjusted in size.
I modified it from the mods default 32 tile 'chunk' to allow it to give me a 48 tile 'chunk' display.
I posted details on how to do this here: viewtopic.php?f=190&t=88439

I place a pole that I modified to reach 48 tiles and a roboport at every 48 tile intersection. Every 3 of these positions I place a Radar.

Another option is to use some form of long reach mod that allows you to place the radars while in the map view.

For those that don't use mods, the option you all requested does make sense to me. Normally this only works for power poles, but it would be helpful for the radars as well.
