Can I do something differently or is there some kind of cliff detection box that is too small?

Sometimes the cliff seems to be placed besides a structure I placed for my bots to build. Therefore apparently no explosiv bot is ordered. In the example below the big electric pole cannot be placed. Once the cliff is destroyed it can. If I mark the cliffs manually to be destroyed the bots do as they are told and the building will be built.
