How many times have you made an expansion for whatever reason, turned everything on, placed a radar, and went on doing something else somewhere else. Once in a while a thought comes up - I wonder how's my mining going on there, or how are my defenses holding up over there.
What if at any radar you could request a snapshot of the surroundings of another radar. In this snapshot you would be able to clearly see everything you could possibly need as long as it is in the snapshot range - resources and how much of the resource is left (unlike 'just colored dots' in the map), and all your buildings. But you could only view the stuff, and not really interact with anything as you most probably are somewhere else on map.
Now i'm not sure whether the radars should actually be connected into a network, similar to Roboports, to be able to 'communicate'.
So you could take say 5 advanced circuits (random number) or craft an empty snapshot (similarly to the blueprints) and take it to a radar, select a different radar, and receive a snapshot. A dilemma though - should it be possible to view it only at a radar, or you can carry the snapshot around and it would update with the specific radar's scan cycle.
Anyway, this is how much I've come up with on this idea.
Do you think this would actually be useful, and maybe you have even better options for this?

Though getting status of different buildings-resources would need separate handling.
Overall I don't think devs would do much with it any time soon. There is a vague RTS-like interface planned for late game but it has been sitting in "future plans" since forever

But, well, it's maybe a good idea to bring this in now again, cause I think it is possible the devs will implement it in the next version.

My own opinion:
- I would call this feature "Remote control", cause other ways of displaying could be possible or are already possible, see the last link to Fat Controller.
- Must have!
- BUT (!) even if we can control things remote we need some way to transport the character FAST. I think to something like small star gates or hyperspace connectors or teleporters, whatever...
- And it is not enough to go fast there, it's also needed to get some supply really that fast. See for example https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=6&t=7150
But, well, it's maybe a good idea to bring this in now again, cause I think it is possible the devs will implement it in the next version.
