Linux Windows Multiplayer

Post by Owlstra »

Hello, I got Factorio but I wanted to play with my friend. He's on Windows 10 and I'm on Linux, and it seems like when he hosts a game using the official servers we can't connect to each other? It gives a general network connection problem, and it's the same if I try to host too. Our pings are unreachable, but everyone else in the server browser seems fine. I'm not sure what to do, and most internet solutions are about port forwarding and stuff, but I don't think that applies because it's not like he's hosting the server personally on his computer or anything.

Any help would be much appreciated, so far I've had to play with him on my desktop but I like the idea of playing from my laptop without having to use any proprietary software to run it as though it's Windows.

Edit: Thank you, it worked after port forwarding.

Setup port forwarding on the server, if this does not work post logs of server and client of a session with the issue.
