Inserter & Furnace Issue
Brand new to the game and I can't figure out why the Stone Furnace isn't working. I feel like I have all the pieces set up correctly but the inserter won't put anything into the Stone Furnace. Please help!!

Re: Inserter & Furnace Issue
There is only coal on the belt, no ore for it to smelt.
Re: Inserter & Furnace Issue
You don't need inserters to remove stuff from mining drills. Turn the iron ore drill 90° to the right so it outputs directly on the lower lane of the belt
And replace those burner inserters for the output. In vanilla inserters can't leech coal from the furnace

Re: Inserter & Furnace Issue
You need to put both coal and iron/copper into the smelter to make iron/copper plates. Make sure you get iron/copper ore on the belt! Mining drills drop their products in front of them, they don't have an internal storage buffer. If you have a belt right in front of the mining drill, the ore will be dropped right on it. Therefore, inserters cannot take ore out of mining drills, just like Serenity said earlier.
Please also note that inserters are smart enough to not overfill fuel. They will stop putting coal into the furnace when it has 5 units of coal. You can add more coal manually, but inserters will wait for the furnace to consume its fuel before they add more than 5.

Also - if you want to get both ore and coal on the belt make sure that each lane gets exactly one of those, or you'll end up in stopped production should ore run out and coal block both lanes. (Which will happen very soon as coal is needed in significant lower numbers.)
To achieve that, you have to join belts with only coal and ore coming from two sides. Like in this screenshot where you can see iron ore and coal being merged:
