[0.11.8] Can't load multiplayer save file

Post by igwk »

Version 0.11.8, Windows 7, 64-bit

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Start game
  2. Select Play -> Multiplayer -> Load game -> CrashesOnMultiplayerLoad
  3. Click on the Play button without changing options (Latency set to 99ms and "Allow commands" unchecked)
  4. After it shows the loading bar, it dumps back to the main menu without starting the game
Save file:

Hello, did you play this game also in version 0.11.7? If so the save is corrupted, because the saving was broken in that version.

Hi kovarex, this game was created with version 0.11.8 so it has always been saved/loaded with the same version. While playing multiplayer, I periodically manually saved the game over that save file. I'm guessing this means that the bug lies in the code to create the save file.

This error is related to similar problem: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... =30&t=7630

The bad news is, that the save game is now corrupted and it is almost impossible to make it loadable at all.

The good news, that the cause of the bug is solved for 0.11.9. I advice waiting until we release 0.11.9 before you play a new game (or use the stable 0.10.12 version, or 0.11.6)

Okay thanks. I was able to load from one of the autosaves and recover the game from there (so thanks for that feature! :D )

I wonder whether one of my other bug reports at https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=7&t=7639 is also related. I suspected that the cars got stacked as a result of a save/load cycle. Maybe the bug that caused the save file to be corrupted could have been at fault in that case as well?
