[Youtube] Reporting to the Board LP with DrNickDoom

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen. I am DrNickDoom

Welcome to the Forum post about my latest Factorio series.

some very quick information on it:
video length will be around a TV hour (45 mins to 1H)
New episodes 2 to 3 times a week
starts in 0.10.12 from EP2 i will try to stay on the latest experimental build

If you don't recognize my name (and that will be the majority of you) I am a hobbyist Youtuber/Twitcher that makes his home over at HouseDoom1 i currently aim for 4 Videos a day(not counting updates or announcements) comming out a 6h intervals, these have been up until this point daily TV30 minute(20 to 30 mins) updates to my ongoing Lets plays in each respective time slot.

As you may have seen with the Quick info this does not Fit that normal lineup, As i did not think it was the best for Factorio. I am hoping with this new format i will be able to read all the comments from 1 Episode before i record the next. as one of the things i love about making let's plays is the interaction and input from the views.

I also have ulterior motives My knowledge of the game is limited to a quick play through of the scenarios So I am going to need help.

My plan is to have a Aim going into each Episode, which i will take from the comments of the people watching and try to achieve it within the TVhour. even have a link to a pool in the description so people can vote/discuss how i did(starting from EP 2).

This is where the name “Reporting to the Board” comes from.
Every person who watches is a member of the board and each episode will be my progress report to you.

Hit alt to bring up the "more information" setup, it shows you the direction that miners and inserters are facing,

make a damn pick, it makes mining by hand somewhere between 2-5x faster (i forget the exact number and i'm sure somebody will correct me) including picking up buildings (though they are normally 1s)

It's 14 boilers to one pump, and 10 steam engines

the shortcut for put back is q

you don't use bricks for anything but electric furnaces and walls...

i notice you haven't updated to the latest version, cause you didn't need to research walls

you read the power bar as progress bars, the consumption is at 100%, and the production is around 10%

(4+5+5, totally 15, though i have NEVER done that mistake before )

Undergound pipes save your live when doing power plants/oil plants

for the record, it DID record properly

according to the math i didn't do, one electric mine supplies one iron furnace, and one stone furnace is about .75 steel (don't quote me on that though)

belts place on the next square (that's how they work) so your inserters can grab off of the square AFTER the belt

if you leave a gap every two furnaces, you can power both sides with one pole

you DID grab one hundred coal, then put 50 in one furnace

you can tell by the info prompt that comes up when you mouse over things, it tells contents (on the bottom) and the image is animated the same as the on world one

you can use spliters to pull a quarter of your iron off to be resmelted into steel, then you can not worry about ore running out because you can pipe more into your general smelting ~600

As root- would say, nothing with a spliter is stupid ~900

spliters use belts, you yes you DID have a bunch of belts.. labs too

three tier one assemblers of red packs, can feed off of one gear (tier one) and can power (i think) 8 labs (or 10)

I'm probably aiming for the next EP on Tuesday so there is not rush. at-lest this is proving i was right to change from daily videos for this game as your not the only one i know who is watching and commenting that would not be-able to every day.

I did say the plan was to aim for a TVhour, its just aTM i don't add adds its i think ~the same amount of content a week i would be doing if i was daily tv30mins format i normally use

i think i will mix both inputs but i just like the idea of taping both as the aim was to ramp up

i had never though about buffers other then long belts but read some thing on the forum and i like the sound of them

Nah, once i figgured out what you where doing i calmed down... but i would have put two belts in the middle and one on the outside, as it results in one fewer belt per row (ore+coal) || (plate + other-plate) || (ore + coal) etc.

as opposed to (plate) || (ore + coal + ore) || (plate)

The vid cuts out, but the audio kept going for another 2 mins, it's fixed now, so it must have been an one off issue

and i wanted to get them to work so that people who didn't want to, or had already read them don't need to scroll forever (and so we get more then like 4 posts per page)
