When laying track (without robots), if you have the green arrow active, you can delete track that you have already laid, however the next section of track (starting at green arrow) stays in the original location.
To re-create:
lay a starting section of track (left click to place after setting orientation)
Continue laying additional track so that the new section is highlighted in green, but don't place the track. (left click with green arrow pointing the direction you want the track to go)
Right click on the starting track segment (the one with the green triangle) to delete it and you will notice that the proposed track starting point stays in the same place.
I would expect this to not be able to happen (can't delete track that you are creating new track from), or that the green arrow would move to the track that is left, or cancel the new track segment.
