Game crashes on startup

Been playing factorio for a while now, and finally multiplayer comes along. My boyfriend and me decided to thoroughly test it tonight.. Except my computer is not playing along.

Updating didn't work, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the new one and I get the error message in the picture. This happens the moment I startup, all I see is a white screen, nothing else.

I uninstalled again, looked through my registry & drives to delete anything that mentions factorio and might interfere, rebooted again, downloaded the zipfile, unzipped it in a different place and still get the same message. Previous versions of Factorio ran perfectly, didn't change anything to my computer since the last time I played. My logfile always says the following, and nothing else:

can anyone please help me, I don't know what else to try..

EDIT: Downloading an old version works.. Lets hope the newly uploaded hotfixed version that will come soon will work as well and the two were related.. somehow..

I have the same problem with the new update old versions work fine just the new one and all it gives me is the same thing as mannol


any help with this ?

Edit ill add my system info if that helps and im looking for a logfile

i was thinking it might be hardware related but it looks like we have completely different PC specs
i was trying to fix it but i still could not get it to work

I regressed the version and the the game now starts as mentioned above.

I tried updating from the regressed version rather then fresh install but still experiencing the problem.

Nope no fix yet.

My system specs are also completely different from Internotez,

0.10.X work, but anything 0.11 does not.. I looked into my windows logs and I get the following

Already ran CHKDSK, tried it on another drive, on a flash drive even. Besides, as mentioned, previous versions work just fine..

I have done the same as Mannol and i get the same result frustrating ... but i get we will have to w8 on a fix from the dev's end

To add further I have tried

disabling antivirus
cleaning up previous install including deleting /appData folder
changing diskdrive
disabling my second monitor
installing and launching as Admin.

but no cigarr

this is very aggravating as my friends are winding me up over it as they are playing multiplayer i have tryed there files and re-downloading it from the site fresh install admin run update drivers for gfx card but that would seem to not be the problem as we all have different cards and chips sets so it might be a OS problem an update we have that others don't ?

i tried looking for a log-file but seems i don't have one ran my pc in safe mode still did not work and i tried new ram i got to day still the same
i have set up a VM to test but so far nothing new

seems that is is trying to open a file that is not there by the looks of it but from my friends copy all the files are the same so i have no clue were to go from here. ..
any ones els had any clues or luck

ya 32 bit works but why does 64 not its pissing me off

Yup it works for me as well, happily playing with 32bit version.

Also.. just a bit of advise to the persons running 32bit versions because of this problem.. make sure your friends are running 32bit as well. If they would be running 64bit, you run into the bug where 32bit and 64bit don't like each other when it comes to alien attacks. My friend and I got desynced the moment one of us got attacked and it didn't stop until the attack ended or the clients got tired of desyncing.. which ever comes first. Long live Auto-saves.

Can confirm that we had that issue (32-64 desynch on alien attacks) was fine for the first few hours when aliens did not attack so frequently, but then it became a showstopper for us. We are now gonna wait for the next patch. I think (and hope) that they will focus on mp stability on that patch.

And yes all players using 32 bit does solve desynch, nice spot.

so does anyone have any idea why this is happening? cause my friend has same issue, and it would be nice to atleast have some idea where to look since installing x32 is not an option.
