Multiplayer Desync. How do I know if it's a mod?

Post by seanbrockest »

EDIT:

Somehow the issue has resolved itself. I haven't made any changes since the last time it didn't work.... so I don't know what actually fixed it, and I fully expect it to break again.

I've looked through some other posts regarding desync's, and it always seems to end with someone saying "Oh, you've got THAT mod? That one doesn't work with Multiplayer, remove it"

How can I check?

My internet is waaaay too slow to upload the logs and savefiles you guys want, i'm hoping to learn something and figure this out myself.

What I do know.

We're playing on lan
The game loads and plays fine on singleplayer, but 2nd player always desyncs
We've checked the mod folders, the're identical byte-byte and toggle (we use a lot of mods)
We're using the same version (16.27)
This exact game and SAME SET of mods worked fine yesterday, but now it won't. i think the map got too big? Seen that suggested on other tech support reports.

Here I guess i can give you this, it might help

0.259 Loading mod core 0.0.0 (data.lua)
0.282 Loading mod base 0.16.27 (data.lua)
0.477 Loading mod homeworld_redux 0.16.5 (data.lua)
0.548 Loading mod LandMover 0.1.5 (data.lua)
0.613 Loading mod LoaderRedux 1.2.2 (data.lua)
0.677 Loading mod PowerAndArmor 1.16.30 (data.lua)
0.745 Loading mod Single-Splitter 0.0.13 (data.lua)
0.814 Loading mod skan-advanced-solar 1.1.0 (data.lua)
0.884 Loading mod StorageTank2 0.3.0 (data.lua)
0.949 Loading mod vtk-deep-core-mining 1.11.2 (data.lua)
1.014 Loading mod Warehousing 0.1.1 (data.lua)
1.085 Loading mod base 0.16.27 (data-updates.lua)
1.152 Loading mod free_circuit_wires 1.0.1 (data-updates.lua)
1.217 Loading mod homeworld_redux 0.16.5 (data-updates.lua)
1.281 Loading mod PowerAndArmor 1.16.30 (data-updates.lua)
1.347 Loading mod Squeak Through 1.2.0 (data-updates.lua)
1.414 Loading mod PowerAndArmor 1.16.30 (data-final-fixes.lua)

And i'm attaching the desync log file. The entire package is 93 megs though, cant upload that.

Any help will help. Sorry I cant attach more.

If the desyncs happen soon and reliable, the easiest way to find out what mod causes this is to remove mods until it works again. But you are not using the latest version, so it could be an already fixed base game issue, before you mess with the mods you should update the game.

I updated my game last night, and edited the post, which is why the post looks newer than the logfile.

For some reason it's now working. i updated my game and all my mods last night, still wouldn't work. Went to bed mad/sad.

Got up this morning and tried again for no reason. It works now. No idea why.
