Hi,
I have a problem when running the demo of the game.
Game crushes on startup with the message: "Factorio has stopped working".
Using windows 10, running the demo, no steam.
Including two log files, one with the other display adapter disabled, so that is not the problem.
Any help will be good, thank you.

Re: Game crush on startup
I tested the demo and it loads for me.
Your log file stops unexpectedly, but the next line in my logfile is "Initialised Direct3D:[0] AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series; driver: aticfx64.dll 8.17.10.1433.". So the obvious questions are "Is Direct3D installed?" "Do you have appropriate drivers for your graphics cards installed?" and do other direct3d games work? One other thing you could try is editing your config\config.ini file to force opengl mode. See viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9300 .
Hopefully a dev will stop by and provide more advice what else the problem might be.

Re: Game crush on startup
Required version of Direct3D is included in Windows 10 by default, so that is not a problem.
Try to update your graphics driver. It could be also caused by third party game overlay software, which might not be compatible with DirectX 9 on the latestest update of Windows 10.

Re: Game crush on startup
Solved:
This was caused by "RivaTuner Statistics Server".
When mentioning the overlay it hit me that I have an fps counter.
I have "MSI Afterburner" installed, which installs the RivaTuner to display statistics of the application.
It does work with almost any game that I play, up to now there was only one game to crush because of it.
Factorio is the second game so far.
Thank you for the help

Re: Game crush on startup
Maybe update your riva tuner, it gets shipped seperatly.
I use it too and it works fine.

Re: Game crush on startup
After updating the RivaTuner, I still get the same problem.
Played a lot with the options, and finally found it.
For anyone facing a similar problem:
In RivaTuner -> "Custom Direct3D support" should be "ON". That way Factorio runs with the RivaTuner.
Note: This is not recommended option, as it may cause other games or software not to run, use it cautiously.
I would recommend to open a separate profile only for Factorio using this setting.

Re: Game crush on startup
What version did you update to? I remember at least 7.0.2 was required on Windows 10 ... Windows 10 updates regularly break RTSS compatibility with Direct3D 9, but I don't think it got broken again in the 1709 update.
Anyway, I am happy the game works for you, and hopefully the information about the "Custom Direct3D support" option will help also other people, thanks for sharing.
