Game uninstalled after crash?

so.. I had 207 hours played in one massive world, and Factorio/Steam almost made me cry when they was gone for like 5minutes (read whole post)

short version
I was playing Factorio when the computer restarted. Steam did not find Factorio after restart. Got panic and reinstalled game.

longer version
Stuff I had recently done prior to this crash (which I doubt are relevant to this issue)
I bought an RX Vega 56 the other day which I installed this sunday. was playing some on the sunday and when I got home from work on Monday I started Factorio, played for a bit and then my computer just shutdown (Not a bluescreen, just off. poof screens went no signal)
I also bought an new pump for my watercooling at the same time, which I also installed this sunday. model of the pump is Aquastream XT Ultimate. It also has drivers and an application for tracking data running on my pc.
it automaticly booted back up, and when I tried to start Factorio again, by rightlicking Steam in the system tray, it just said "Install Factorio".

SSD and other harddrives is only 1year old, game installed on SSD. (windows aswell)


the Steamapps folder still had the Factorio folder, from what I could see all files was still in this folder, nothing missing.

Panicked pretty hard at this point.
but luckily for me the saves was still inside %appdata%\Factorio\saves however my game can not find them in there even after re-installing the game for a 2nd time
after finding my saves inside that folder I quickly made an backup of the entire Factorio folder inside %appdata%, after that I re-installed the game once more and also restarded my pc, and this time the game actually found the saves.

I have no idea why this happend, nor how. but I just had a feeling I should share it incase someone else runs into the same problem, or if I can somehow provide more information to get this heart-attacking issue solved.

Not sure if I make alot of sense, its 5am, I just had panic and now im going to bed.

That sounds like a hardware problem, random shut down without restart suggests a power supply/short circuit issue.

I've tried to recreate this crash-uninstall thing without any progress.

I've tried to crash the cpu while playing (over OC)
crashed graphics card (over OC)

game is still installed in steam after these crashes. so im unable to recreate this problems

I assume this could be due to a bad section or so on the disk, but im unable to find any problems with the drives, nor have I problems elsewhere.


If no one have any questions about this, then I think this thread can be closed for now.
