Red desert in 0.16

I just came across this, and I was wondering if I missed some announcement about it being removed in 0.16. I was also wondering what the community thought about this and why this is happening.
There are 10 types of people: those who get this joke and those who don't.

To clarify, I just checked assets in 0.16 and there is tile set called "red-desert" but it is much more brown and less red than in 0.15. The thing is, red desert probably shouldn't have made it into 0.15 in state it did, but it is so rarely generated, we didn't bother to remove it.
Reason for making it less red is so that it doesn't need to have its own set of doodads, decals, stones and trees that would fit to the red desert.

All tiles and map generation are still being actively worked on.

Okay, thanks for clarifying. So it will still be there, just in a more brown form, and possibly more commonly?

So should we take this to mean that the "Huge Rock 1" and "Huge Rock 2" that are unique to the red desert will also disappear?

Just wanted to bump this a bit since I really liked the red desert as it was presented in 0.15

As I understand it they are still in the game, but not placed by the map generator any more?
