[15.33] Game crashing randomly after some lags (debian)

Hey there !

I just updated the game to 15.33 (didn't play in a while) and a new bug appeared : the game just stops without any message, after a random time (few seconds to half an hour). I currently play on a relatively "bad" computer (just above minimum requirements), and I think the issue may come from a kind of CPU overload, but usually the game was just slowing down a bit. Now it just crashes.

It's not making the game unplayable, but it's frustrating anyway...

I would suggest to try lower the graphics quality settings.

I tried various settings, the crashes seems unrelated to the settings. It seems very hazardous, sometimes it stays on for nearly an hour of intensive CPU-consuming playing, sometimes it crashes even before I start playing, in the main menu...

By the way, I'm on the Steam version, idk if it may change something.

It is crashing on clearing backbuffer after flip in the main loop, which is the simplest operation GPU can do. Try to tinker with your graphics driver, Mesa 10.3.2 was released in October 2014.

So I tried to update Mesa to a backports version (13.0.6) :

apt-get -t jessie-backports install libgl1-mesa-{dri,glx}
So far the problem seems solved. The game doesn't crash anymore, lags are back to normal. :3
