Make a final tier Metal that is ultra rare and takes space science to research it's techs. Metal will be needed for MK2 of most items ( reactor, radar, lass turrents, power armour 4, robots, weapons, and other items that take metals.)
I think this would finally make this game endless if the recipes and research were scaled correctly.
