I was killing aliens as per usual, but I stubled upon a group of aliens about to establish a base and thought I'd stop them before they could finish.
I went close because I used personal laser defense turrets in my power armor to kill enemies without wasting bullets.
Suddenly, a biter spawner spawned on top of my character and for some reason I didn't die.
All the aliens became dosile and all my equipment and items vanished.
I could still move around, but there was no player model. I could move around and above everything as if I was just a camera in spectate mode.
I could go back to my base and pick up items into my inventory and disassemble machines, belts, inserters etc.
So now I were an invulnerable god. I just couldn't kill anything anymore.
It was a fun bug, but might be troublesome if it happens in a multiplayer game where you can't simply reload.

Re: Accidental character death not triggering the death screen
Strictly speaking, I don't think this was death so much as the spawner deleting your character instance. They probably shouldn't do that
It is Not a Bug that you were put into "God Mode" as a result, however.

Re: Accidental character death not triggering the death screen
Thanks for the report. I've changed it for the next version of 0.15 so instead of just deleting the character it will kill the character.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
Re: Accidental character death not triggering the death screen
...I feel like the bitters should be denied building their spawner or turret instead of deleting/killing the player. Otherwise I want the ability to run into their lands a drop assemblers all over and kill them with a satisfying squish sound effect!
Re: Accidental character death not triggering the death screen
i agree with not killing the player. i think it should do some basic damage calculation against player shields and health.
just killing the player sounds like you don't want to bother fixing it properly
as a side note. i've seen spawners appearing shortly after i killed the expand party, which is also not quite... kosher
sorry for sounding arrogant
