Cannot find much info on modding wires

I would like to add new colored wires for logistic .... but the only reference I find for red-wire and green-wire is in demo-item.lua and nowhere else. Neither in entity or any other directories being in base or core ....
How can we mod wires ?

Forget it.
Found the following thread viewtopic.php?t=49959 which makes clear that adding custom wire support will most likely never be done due to the extensive impact.
