[0.15.x] Corrupt game state

Post by fwyrl »

Playing along through my SP world when I got a message telling me I had a corrupt game state, and it said to post it here, so here you go!

I was simply walking north, though I may have stopped, as I had simply pulled up anime on my other monitor and was watching that, while holding the 'w' with a spoon.

Edit: It should be noted that I was unable to replicate the corruption simply by walking north.

I also had some other issues outside of the save game. The first time I tried to replicate the corruption (right after saving the corrupt file), I tried to load the linked autosave and Factorio crashed hard, partway through loading. Then, partway through an attempt to replicate it (second attempt), I was nailed with a BSOD. I was only able to complete my third attempt to replicate it after rebooting the PC. Possibly RAM corruption (from a driver or hardware - outside of Factorio's scope).

If you aren't able to reproduce the problem and you've had a BSOD then I highly suspect you've simply got bad RAM.

Try running this: http://www.memtest.org/ it should tell you if you have bad RAM or not.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

It's most likely the bad keyboard driver I have, then. Sorry to have wasted your time!
