Help accessing train tutorials

Hello. I'm trying to figure out how to properly set up train signals; before the .15 update, regardless of what I read and looked at, I never could figure them out. So a proper tutorial for them being included in the game is a godsend for me, and most likely, many other newer players -- I'm an intelligent person, but how the signals operate aren't entirely obvious.

However, due to some permissions problems I've created myself on my laptop, I had to, in the past, remove Factorio from the main drive on my computer, and when I reinstalled it, the permissions didn't allow me. I was able to reinstall and get it up and running on the D: partition. I can see in the factorio files the folder for the tutorials, but in the game proper, I see no option to access them. Am I missing something, or as I suspect, did I unintentionally create a problem with having things installed as I do?

Below the minimap, you should have icons, one of which is a hat like students throw in the air when they graduate in american movies. That's the one for the tutorials.
