0.15.17 freezes within 1 min of gameplay. Saved game loads fine. All 0.15 versions worked without freezes whatsoever.
/var/log/system.log (mac os x Sierra) reports:

I have this same issue (same as in, I see the same error message in OS X console about the "incorrect checksum for freed object"; saved games load fine. For me, the freeze has happens multiple times at this point, always within a few minutes of loading the game.
