Roboport / Robot stats

Don't know how to use a machine? Looking for efficient setups? Stuck in a mission?

Roboport / Robot stats

Post by AxeSlash »

I'm trying to put together some calculations to figure out how many roboports I need for various different sizes of train station etc.

Obviously a major factor is how long bots spend charging; I can't seem to find any figures on how long it takes a Roboport to fully charge a bot - does anyone have this info?

the 'Recharge Rate' figure on the wiki just seems to be a power consumption figure rather than a 'Bots receive # KW/s'-type figure...

Also am I right in thinking that bot energy consumption is calculated on a per tile basis rather than a per second basis? I.e. if you've got bot speed upgrades, it will get from A to B faster, but use the same amount of energy?

And do we have any stats for how fast bots fly? I suppose I could measure that, but my circuit-foo isn't quite good enough yet ;)

Thanks

I know you are looking for data...which I don't have but my go-to number in concentrated pickup or delivery areas is 4-6 roboports. For instance I like to set up a FARL base complete with active requester chests for all manner of remote base building things (4 +cars worth) and when that train pulls in there are a LOT of deliveries. Having 1 roboport per car helps tremendously.

I used to play with the idea of a bot furnace. It was fully supplied and emptied by bots. I had something like 100 furnaces just for iron in a huge square and about 15 ports around the square.

You could be cautiously optimistic with a figure like 1 port per 100 delivering bots in surge situations or 1 per 50 in more sustained situations. Thats not bots-in-network but an estimate of bots that will need to visit a specific area. Its based on the delivery destination since that is typically where a bot will want to recharge.

Assuming no mods, bots take roughly 2 seconds to charge once they are at the charge spot. Sometimes it takes longer to move there (if the bot has low power it's speed will be reduced - a backlog of bots waiting to charge can cause them all to slow down).

Bot flight speed isn't constant. It's influenced by research, and since it's one of the infinite upgrades now, there's no limit to it in theory.
