Rail Planner not working!

Hello everyone! so ive been playing factorio for awhile now and I can not for the life of me figure it out how to use the rail planner. or it wont work anyway.
Before you say it yes I know place a rail click the green arrow hover over boom! nothing! Ive searched this forum all over, nothing. I have tried a new game, reseting countless times and uninstalled the game a couple times. but this problem makes me not wanna play because its alot harder to progress with no rails. Please any ideas would help.

welcome to the forums. hold shift+click for the planner. hit R to rotate the final piece's direction.

Unfortunately this does nothing at all.

hold shift, then click the green arrow at the end of the rail.

Still nothing at all. hold shift + left click = nothing
Also, left click only, on green arrow causes rails in hand to go into the inventory bar. and nothing from there. confusing right?

only thing i can think, is that you changed your default button configurations.

Well that was it! just reset the controls and works now. I swear I have no idea how it got changed. but whatever works now. Thank you Much appreciated! Now if you'll excuse me I have a railroad network to build.
