Can't update to latest version of factorio

I have the non-steam version of faction and every time i click the check for updates button it says no new updates

the about screen has this:

Release: alpha
Version: 0.11.22(Build 14011,win64)
Website: www.factorio.com

I don't know what to do, because i want to play modded factorio but it requires the latest version
i have got a new account and tried again but it still doesn't work

help me obi wan kenobi you are my only hope...

Get there, and you'll find the latest version. I think 0.11.22 is too old to update directly to 0.14.x

Updates from versions before 0.12 are not available anymore. To update, please download the game again from factorio.com

i don't want the demo though i want the full release but i don't want to pay for it again

i have downloaded all the demo and nothing has changed
it still says no more updates
